Ok, let me stop you there. I’m 56. We’re not old, we’re VINTAGE. And we’re just old enough to know what great music is. Kids today have no idea what it is to hear great classic records get released every month. Remember the 80’s? Not one month went by without an amazing album dropping from the heavens, often several would appear. Today, nada. Tyler and the Shakedown offer a glimmer of hope but we need 50 more just like them.

Tyler is one of those guys who is livin' the dream, and totally deserving of every bit of it. Humble, hard working, and appreciative of every speck of good karma that has circled back 'round to him. Thank you Tyler and Andrew for the time and energy put in to this fantastic studio tour and amazing gear rundown. Crikey! Tyler has amassed a stellar collection of gear and knowledge in his short amount of time on this earth! I sometimes find it incredible that such a young guy has already absorbed and amassed so much knowledge and experience...and gear! But when a young man's passion and energy is so laser-focused on music, you begin to understand it. Andrew, all of the jump cuts were a bit startling and aggressive, but I understand that with so much gear and area to cover, along with all of the stories behind it, it's difficult to keep focus and continuity flowing naturally. Thanks again to both.

Had the pleasure of recording a record years ago at a studio in Seattle that was MUCH more equipped than other home studios I’d been to before. The engineer miked up my older sonor kit with a slingerland snare. Full set up. Then in the back of the room a single old rusty looking German ribbon microphone was placed. All this was going onto a 2inch 24track studer? Massive fawking machine on wheels with snake cables all that shit. Anyway the best sounds ever coaxed out of my drums and cymbals was with room ribbon mike that looked like it belonged at the bottom of a old tool box. Turns out that particular mike was used on Supertramps breakfast in America record in the 1970’s. A learning experience.

It never ceases to amaze me how many pro releases are actually made in people´s basement studios! :) No fancy room in room builds with tons of damping materials,- just basic sound management and læt´s go! Can confirm that it´s a 20W Marshall Silver Jubilee casually resting on top of what looks to be two vintage 50W Marshall plexis. Damn! Next to the Fenders, the Oranges, the pignose etc... Might surpirise you, but outside of my ususal operatic symphonic Vikingr euro metal style I´m actually a huge fan of rootsy gritty Americana dark country, dusty acoustic and electric blues and classic southern rock and southern metal so this runthrough was right up my alley. Been following the amazing Lovell sisters as well as Samatha Fish for quite some time by now. Love their take on Son House´s Preachin Blues and Samatha´s take on Black Wind Howlin´. Megan Lovell´s slide work is to die for btw. Dude´s a lucky guy! :)
