amazing diy skills seem elevated into super hero status once proven, I hope these become available as add-ons in sports and outdoor shops, its too much hassle to enjoy offroad electric skateboarding which seems the free-est without getting into the thousands of $$$ for battery and hub motor tech that all comes from the same factory that has the lion share of manufacturing planned out in stages beforehand.

could you show(in another video) the engine to wheel sprocket build/hook up ?
@homemade_madness6 жыл бұрын
its not that compicated. the wheel hub is made of steel, so i just made a square plate with a big hole for the shaft in the middle, and welded that plate to the wheel, next i drilled holes in the plate to mount the sprocket. its not 100% in the centre but good enough for sure ;)

id like to know what the smallest most portable form factor for a vehicle capable of driving over grass would be. it would be cool if this board could fold in half or telescope to shorten my college has a massive parking lot and i would like to get to class in style. and put the vehicle in a breifcase when im done with it
@Hellsong892 жыл бұрын
My guess would be folding scooter with bigger tires say from wheelbarrow and power source that works for you. If you bring it inside then electric might be better since no flammable liquid around but if outside then small gasoline engine say trimmer engine with suitable sprocket ratio.

Your video is superb, I would have liked to know what wood you use for your board and where do you find it?
@homemade_madness6 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks!! I bought the wood in my local building supply store. Its 3mm thick ( total board 5 layers=18mm) baltic berch plywood. If you try to bend them into the mold directly they will break (to sharp of a curve) so i put the plates in warm water in my bathtub and let them soak for a day so they got soft then i directly put them in the mold for a few days and they will hold their shapes. After they dried for some days i glued it together. You can see the plate im glueing in the video already has a bit of the curve in it caused by the water softening. Good luck building yours if you are planning on it :)
@eliotberthe55196 жыл бұрын
@@homemade_madness I have already made several longboards. The problem is that they are made with three plywood planks of 5mm thick unit and the result is that they are extremely heavy and not at all supple is your Montaine board flexible?

@@eliotberthe5519 yes, its flexible. But its pretty thick too

@@homemade_madness I think that normally for street skateboard we put 7 layer of glulam. The fourth layer is not in the same direction as the others, the wood fibers are perpendicular.
