One thing bothers me. Nobody building a homemade lathe lists the accuracy of the end product. I read that a homemade lathe cannot match the accuracy of a professionally manufactured one. It took a long time for me to diagnose my accuracy problem which was .0100 to .0200. Using thin strips of metal behind the Chuck, I bettered the accuracy to .0030 to .0080. Is press fit .002?

Loved it but that steady rest made it look weak. You can do better to beef it up and make it were it doesn't lock but rolls with your handle and locks by clamping pressure. But still an amazing job. I may attempt a build myself now.
