Great review! I just subscribed because of this program. I watch your other channel but really am happy to have discovered this channel. Really wish 7-11 would market some of these bowls in the States. I know the 7-11's in Hawaii have great Asian food that you can't get in mainland U.S. 7-11's. Take care and Happy Eating!

I kinda hate these videos because it just reminds me of how much US 7-Elevens suck. OK, I enjoy a 1/4 pound hot dog or spicy bite a few times a year, but disappointing otherwise.

I love donburi! I think if I could try one of these bowls from 7-11, I'd try the oyakodon. It's one of my favorites anyway, and it would be fun to try their version. Thanks for trying so many rice bowls! Sending good wishes to you both, and especially I continue to send good wishes to Shinichi's mother.

It's kinda crazy how few things make me miss Japan more than convenience store food! I've been wanting to try taco rice since you did your first video on it, but I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for curry. The katsudon and oyakodon did look great, though, and I wouldn't be unhappy to have any of those bowls.

Ok, this isn't 7-11, but it is konbini related, and made me laugh ... someone posted on an Okinawana FB site, "I have been on Okinawa only one week and I have caught the dreaded LAWSON'S disease. Lol" I think all of us visiting Japan catch that dreaded disease . . . I am so happy to see this video and shows that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good meal in Japan. Under $5 for all of them! Going to be there in a month!!!!
@mindysmom61326 жыл бұрын
Wow! Brothers! So many choices!! The Chuka Don looked so good! It reminded me of my okasan-who always loved katayaki with the same type of veggie topping. The oyako don, I will pass on, only because I am not a fan of runny egg yolks. Too bad about the bibimbap though. I still have yet to try taco rice. I, too, love katsu don, but the egg has to be cooked all the way through. ☺️ Thank you for going outside of your comfort zone of low carb eating, to show us so many delicious rice bowls. Thanks for sharing boys!! Continued prayers for your okasama brother Shinichi. 🙏♥️

Also, the mapodofu and twice-cooked pork, are loaded with Chinese hot peppers and/or Sichuan peppers when cooked traditionally. I've noticed it before, but I am now totally getting that Japanese really do avoid heat in their meals. You mentioned "sweet" a few times; I guess the Japanese do have extra affinity for pronounced sweetness, like cabbage and carrots, like the onions in gyudon... the tomato and ketchup and mayo-based sauces... the sweetness of dashi stock...

I agree. The convenience stores in the states, and else where besides Asia, are not as good. The food is questionable because you don't know how long it's been sitting out. I live in Hawaii though, our 7 Elevens are okay, but no where near as great as the ones in Japan.

Next time I go I will have to try the Gyudon and the Tacodon from 7-eleven for sure. I usually go to Yoshinoya several times each Japan trip but I also often get Wagyu Gyudon from a small shop not far from Umeda that sell kind of Bento, we eat those for sheer convenience but there is always a 7-eleven or five nearby. I will just have to convince my wife to also get something lol.

Out of all the market microwave donburi like this that I've tried in my area, katsudon definitely wins. Where I get it from, the panko stays really crispy, even after the microwave. But my overall favorite donbuir, is unagi donburi. Unagi is easily one of my absolute favorite foods. It's second only to sake(as in salmon XD), and sake has been my favorite food, for all of my life. ^.^

I think the Gyudon or the Mapu Tofu were my favourites but i was surprised when you said the beef was Angus beef Shinichi. The only beef i know that has Angus in it's name would be Aberdeen Angus or Scotch Beef as i didn't expect that to be used when there's so much high quality Japanese beef around. But i would love to have some of these rice bowls in stores in Scotland guess i need to start saving more money to afford to visit Japan one of these days :)

Toni Sanoe Dela Cruz In Japan, they add certain spices into the chicken feed that makes the yolks orange. The spices have no effect on the taste and just changes the color :)
