I am so excited that my next house, my husband and daughter put in a walk in pantry. I am 70 yrs old, and married for 51 yrs, so this is a first for me. Moving on Friday. They renovated the new house to suit us in our old age, wide hallways, for when we need walkers, the bathrooms fitted out for us in the future, the pantry so I don’t have to bend for anything. The floors tiled so we don’t trip on carpet, plus easy clean, and smooth for our future walkers. So many extras for us. They have thought of everything. But, it is the pantry for me

Having 30 family members in my small 1850 german house this Saturday and have been cleaning out all the rooms and outside. Believe it or not I only have 1500 sf to house all of these people. I feel your pain cleaning all areas. No place to hide!!!! It does make you feel ready for the onslaught. Not as organized as you but I am getting there. Hang in there.

My son has always worked in “construction” sort of jobs & the amount of dirt in Greece and muck that they get on their clothing is ridiculous and they ruined more home washing machines then they know I personally think the companies need to have a laundromat at their shops so that the men can do their laundry where they work. Make sure you get up underneath the rubber in your washing machine because that is where the grease and goo loves to go and sit and you really have to kind of check the motor every four months that it doesn’t get clogged up with something, as I’m sure you know❤

I'm slowly putting all by pastas in containers on my big metal rack in my laundry/pantry room. We live out in a rural area and a few mice found their way in during the summer. We have taken care if that but I'm determined to plastic container everything I can now. Its starting to look much neater and clean. Cereals are the next to go into containers. I wish I had the hanging rack inside like you do. I usually hang shirts and work shirts out in the garage on my big rack out there but since its actually getting a little cooler thats not working anymore so I've resoter to hang thing in doorways lol hey long as it works right lol.

You mentioned emergency candles & it got me thinking so I went & checked. We don't have a single candle, emergency or otherwise. I asked my husband why we don't have candles & he said.... "Because we are drowning in lamp oil for your oil lamps." Oh yeah, never mind! Thanks hun. 😏 When we lived in Montana we lost power during the winters sometimes & when we did it made me crazy that we couldn't even read a book, magazine or newspaper & the boys couldn't do their homework etc. by candle light so I invested in oil lamps & lamp oil. We had flashlights for going to the barn to care for the horses & to check on the cows but then we needed to make sure the batteries were newer so if need be they would work. But, I got some blizzard lanterns for back ups those as well. My husband use to tease me about corning the market on oil lamps (especially the Aladdin Lincoln Drape) & lamp oil & that he should buy stock in the Vermont Lanterns company. Such a smarty. 😊
