Hi Rich, There’s an “L” shaped local dock I fish at where jacks routinely push tons of mullet into the inside of the L very late in the afternoon. Try as I might I have very little luck with them. The fish are clearly very aggressively crashing the mullet but I’m lucky if I catch one jack every other outing. I’ve tried topwaters, swimming plugs, rubber shads/jigs, bucktail jigs, metals etc - you name it. I would really prefer to not fish live bait - why are these fish so picky???

Claw meat is great eating. You don't get much, but that is what I buy in cans for my crabcakes. Used to catch a ton of crabs in Barnegat Bay. I actually think that the claw meat is sweeter than the body meat. Give it a try.

In my experience the sail catfish are very good eating, could be dangerous though because of their spines when cleaning them, just got spinned badly by a hard head yesterday and I’ll tell you it’s very painful so be careful! Live the content!

I do use the loop knot all the time. But mostly for topwater lures, sometimes for vertical jigging. I don’t think it’s necessary in all situations.

I use to dive all the time. Not really in Florida but up in the northeast. But at around 21/22 I had a spontaneous lung collapse. Not from diving. Just a genetic issue. But my doctor said not to dive deep so I kinda hung it up. I’ll snorkel around and god as deep as like 10ft now on occasion. But I don’t spear fish anymore.
