@@DavidManningvlog I love the plug and play nature of the bag depending on the situation. It's not just a camera bag you can actually have space for clothes if travelling eliminating the need for a separate camera bag.

Hmmm...Removing most of the dividers and utilizing the separate bags may be the best solution for me. The perfect pack has spots for sleep gear, food gear, safety gear and vlogging gear (including a small drone). This one COULD hit all those points. Color me interested.

Couldn’t find a full price on this thing. Do you have a guess on how much it would cost? I’ve been looking into different bags recently and this has now entered the potential winner territory depending on price.
@DavidManningvlog2 жыл бұрын
It's $399 for the main bag and then I think the tech pouch is $60 or $70. Not sure on the packing cubes, but they're doing a pre-order setup for the whole lineup!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I saw the bag is 50L overall. That is: - Main compartment 30L - Rolltop 15L - Remaining pockets have the remaining 5L, which makes 50L Anyway... it's a great backpack. Thanks for the review! I wish it was easier to get it in Europe
@ListenHereOldMan Жыл бұрын
yeh, since it's a 50L, seeing it here as 60 is very confusing... altho I dunno about these Boreal reviews writ large, tbh... they all dropped at launch, none of em seem terribly neutral, feels like nobody wanted to even say "this is what could be better," which to me is a major red flag... PolarPro tends to make good stuff, so I could see why ppl wouldn't wanna get on their bad side, but I don't know. it's a very nice looking bag, probably the nicest looking 50L I've seen. But I've seen some negatives reiterated across multiple reviews that I haven't seen mentioned in any YT vids.. i dunno. Think I'm gonna pick up one of these and a Shimoda, and return the one I don't like.

@@ListenHereOldMan True... a lot of the reviews seem a little too good to be true. I had the same impression about the Nomatic PM camera bags... a lot of hype! I actually bought the 25L. It came with a defect... but regardless, not that great. Sent it back. This Boreal seems more like it. I'd like to see with my own eyes. But in Europe it seems it's going up to 650€!! Too much... To be honest, the Wandrd Prvke is a great bag out there. I just happen to not like the looks of it 😅. But in terms of features it is not far from the boreal, and much more affordable (around 320€)

when you insert a 20 litre and a 10 litre bag... = 30 litres... the 50 litre backpack looks full?
@DavidManningvlog2 жыл бұрын
Hahaa! When you packout the 20L and 10L dividers, there's still quite a bit of space on top to add folded pants or folded dress shirts. So they fit top to bottom, but once they're in you have room to pack stuff on the front. I feel like I explained that poorly, does that make sense?

Would much rather have a solid 500D or 1000D codura bag and use a water proofing spray on it. You'll get the same water repellent protection, in a MUCH more durable bag. DWR is great for water protection, but it isn't super durable. Every DWR bag I've ever seen that was used regularly has issues with that coating cracking and peeling. Looks like a great bag, well designed, plenty of room for anything, just not a fan of the exterior material choice.

Interesting Chris! Didn’t know that the coating could come off. Which bags have you seen that used it and that happened?

@@DavidManningvlog I can see some of the benefits of the dividers but like the flexible ones. They curve to my lens shapes & with the longer lenses facing opposite direction taking up less space & a tighter fit so less bouncing around. Both probably have their benefits.

Main fail here (and I love PolarPro) is their not making the 'camera gear' section entirely encased in a section that can be removed in one piece with all the dividers intact. NOBODY is going to be happy taking all those dividers out and then trying to figure out how they were put in initially to maintain their original storage space. Makes zero sense! It wouldn't even have to be velcroed in; it could just sit in there like my drone bag insert does (I made it from a great backpack I bought to which I added a compartmentalized insert... simple). I never have to try to guess at where things go if I want to use that bag for something else. I take the whole drone section out (which holds both a Mavic Pro and a Mavic2 Pro and all the necessary peripherals, including ND filters, etc, and set it aside. When I want to go back, I slide it back in. No BS with setting up a ton of dividers. 🤮 I have a Peak Design Everyday Bag for my camera gear and it's the same thing, almost; it has three main sections and those dividers can come and go easily without worrying about where to put them back, and I have a 30L bag for hiking or whatever, again, without having to hassle with a bunch of random dividers I'll need a photo of the original setup to decipher how to put them back! Ridiculous. Not to mention (but I'm gonna) how much you think that thing will weigh once it's full of camera gear??? Back to the drawing board on this one...
@DavidManningvlog2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know Kai, I’m of a split mind on the completely removable camera section. While it obviously makes it super easy to add/remove camera gear, every iteration of that sort of system I’ve seen has been bulky and takes up so much space. I totally get that it’s a pain in the butt to add/remove the dividers, but for how I shoot in particular, I have four or five different gear setups that I’ll run. So I’m moving dividers based on each job or shoot that I’m headed out on. For me so far, having a setup like this would be better for customizing my bag for each trip I’m headed out on. I totally get your perspective though too. Would be cool for them to release a camera insert for shooters like you where that would work, but dividers large enough to span the whole bag for shooters like me that don’t want the insert👍
@KaiTiura2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidManningvlog I can see your point. Since I was talking about my drone bag, the configuration of which never (or almost never) changes, my thought process doesn’t necessarily translate to your use case. My Peak Design bay, though, works with about every use case I have, holding three or four lenses and a camera, plus all my filters, batteries and any other extras in its original configuration…😉
@thomastuorto99292 жыл бұрын
Best solution if you need a bag of this design & like the way it is made is to get a ICU from another & use it with this bag. This bag in a 60L design with a top access area for rain gear & snacks if we are talking long multi-day hikes. I can use this for my day hikes. No set agenda. Just what ever I happen to come across. I like to shoot wildlife, landscape, nature &, macro with speed lights. Would still have room for some food & rain gear. Kind of like taking everything & the kitchen sink too! Would be pretty good for photo gear storage in the vehicle also.
