Expert glassblower Michael Schunke, (instagram: @thegobletninja) demonstrates how to create an exquisitely crafted handblown tulip-shaped goblet with textured diamond-pattern optics. Michael Schunke is co-founder and designer of Vetro Vero, the American hand-blown glass company based in PA.
Glassblowers of all levels can appreciate the degree of technical craftsmanship involved in this advanced glassworking visual tutorial. To create the finished goblet, the maestro blends Venetian and Murano glassblowing techniques with his own style: he shapes avolio bits, opens a blown foot, assembles multiple parts, and refines proportions as he works. Slow-motion close-up shots of significant actions include winding-on a bit, paddling an avolio, centering the stem, and attaching the cup bowl from the garage.
To support Michael Schunke’s belief that the best way to learn is through observation, we have left this video free of spoken instruction and commentary. Instead, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata accompanies the glassblowing performance, and we welcome questions in the comment section. Classical music for a classical form… Enjoy!
Music:
Moonlight Sonata, Op. 27 No. 2 - I. Adagio sostenuto, perf. by Paul Pitman
Moonlight Sonata Op. 27 No. 2 - II. Allegretto, performed by Paul Pitman
Moonlight Sonata Op. 27 No. 2 - III. Presto, performed by Paul Pitman

If you are a master of this technique and show this in a video then it seems as if everything is very obvious. This requires many years of experience and practice and a lot of specific knowledge of the different techniques to be able to do this. It is absolutely fantastic to see this excellent craftsmanship. Fabulous. You are the grandmaster.

So much work goes into the making of just one glass object that allot of the time it's such unappreciated work until you see the making of said product that is when you start appreciating things more.
