I think people should keep In mind is overestimating your days is not a bad idea, at least for some of you. If you don’t buy enough days you’re going to get burned after a day or 2 extra. Just make sure if you’re cost with day passes is just $30 less then say an epic local, is having that extra flexibility worth $30? Also good vid.

More important, I think people need to keep in mind that pass cost is almost nothing compared to air fare and hotels if you are talking about traveling to destination resorts. This video talked about several pass purchasing method to save $50 which is 1/10 of what you can potential save on logging. This is why I spend days and nights on trip planning every time.

Last year I bought a Keystone Plus and then somehow got a free upgrade to Summit Value when we realized we'd only be going during holiday times. Definitely was worth it.

I've bought 6 day pass including holiday access and that worked out great. 6 days is plenty for me and did everything I wanted to do for about $80 per day. Can't beat it. Full pass only makes sense at 10 days or so. I couldn't afford that many hotel days, lol

are we talking just the catwalks or the entire mountain? 🤣 still gotta pickup that 200 midweek. couple that with a 450/550 sunrise. that's not a bad combo to spend the weekends and holidays at sunrise with lesser crowds.

@@Gary-np7hl It's just that section for a few seconds from 1:52 to 2:06 where ski lift is visible. Flagstaff ski lifts were alway very long waits on busy days. Sunrise is quite a hike (maybe 4.5 hours drive?) from Snowbowl if you do it in one weekend. They're both great places!

IMO doing this much planning and this far in advance is not worth it just to save possibly a few hundred dollars. I would rather buy a pass than buy day passes and end up needing more. The price of the day pass packages also significantly increase closer to the snow season. These price comparisons are only good if you know exactly what your plans are for next season RIGHT NOW.

The easiest way to do it is to buy the full pass and ski 30+ days at the best resorts 😄

This kind of strategy works if you are going to ski a few days in holiday at destination resort ONLY. If I buy a 7 day tier-2 pass for $459 to ski 2 holidays, I'll need a $555 North East Value pass for my weekend day trip which accounts for 8-10 days every season. that will be stupid because it's more expensive than a full pass. I think everybody already knows how to use day passes.

In general Epic day pass is only for people who ski a few days. Combining Epic day passes with Indy pass can make sense if you like to always try different mountains, and if there are abundant choices in your region. I have used excel to do extensive analysis myself trying to ski more mountains and maintain same cost as Epic local. It's not easy as my target is 20+ day total in a season with half vacations half day trips. I'll have to use several mountains 2+ hr away for day trips to maintain that goal.

Notice how an “adult” for the Epic Pass is “13”, where as the age for locals pass for adult is 19+ - thats really expensive for a “kid”!

Are the passes transferrable? Do the resorts require ID to use an Epic pass to keep ski bums from pooling their money and passing the pass around whenever they have a day off to ski?

This comparison is stupid. Because Epic requires you to commit before the season starts, the majority of people don't know how many days they are going to ski. Plans fall apart or sometimes they decide they want to ski more than their pass allows. This happens all the time. I know people with full epic Pass but only skied 2 days. I know people who bought day lift tickets 10x because they didn't buy an Epic Pass early...

It's worth noting that if you find yourself spent more than 40 hours thinking which pass to buy. Just buy both IKON and EPIC. Time spent struggling is a hidden cost, and it could be expensive.
