Epic Pike and Shotte English Civil War: The Battle of Reading
It is November 1642, the Royalist Army under King Charles I has laid siege to the main Parliamentarian force under the Earl of Essex for the last month. Parliamentarian reinforcements in the shape of a battalia of cavalry arriving from the East are seen from the battlements of the besieged Star Fort. This sighting prompts the Earl of Essex to sally forth and engage the Royalist army to try and break the siege.
