Well done on those. One tip I use is snip shoulder supports off and any piece of sprue that isn't needed and paint on sprue. Use combo of speed paints and regular. Paint less on the rear of front rank and less on front of rear rank if you want to save time. Dont paint boots cover in flock.

thanks good suggestions - i have occasionally removed the should supports but often the figures come off so I have tended to leave them lately

I LOVE the 'top tip' of using the unit labels from the flag sheet as a neat, printed unit label for underside the command stand. I used to handwrite unit names on white sticky labels to stick under unit bases, but not now - it's printed labels from the flag sheet for me from now on!

Great stuff. I just "surrendered" to the "it's ugly up close" and focused on very strong contrast / highight. Very birhgt beige pike wood and very bright metal tips really help

Great video Dom and as I have started enjoying painting Epic ACW now I am more chilled about tackling them. Going to, have fun painting my Royalists for Epic Pike and Shotte :)

I swore I would never do it, but this has convinced me that after the Edgehill project is done, I am going to try painting my Covenanters on the sprue. I really like the idea of being able to paint a battalia straight thru from start to finish and they are all in one place.

This is what like about the Epic scale, (similar to 15mm figures), as a painter you can be as detailed as you want to be. I like to paint, so I try to be detailed, but I am NOT a professional painter, so all my ACW and WATERLOO EPICS are what I would classify as wargame 3' rule level painted. Who really notices that I painted the brass buttons on these figures, except me? ha Thanks for the tutorial, have fun and be well!
@BootsontheTable10 ай бұрын
exactly - I just cant do this scale that well but the effect works for me

A great video. I sold my 28mm ECW a few years back and I've always regretted it. I've been thinking of get back into pike and spotted and I've also recently been seduced by smaller scales (10mm Marburian). These epic figures look just the thing.

Thanks Dom. I think I can use this method on some of my massed pike units for my Successor army/Macedonian.

I have a similar method now with most of my figures - undercoat with the predominant colour and go from there

Nice. Did anyone track the paint colors and sequence? If yes could you post it here.

Thanks, as I played DBR ( and Gush) years ago. This looks great. What is the width of one of those bases?
@BootsontheTable10 ай бұрын
they are 6x2cm. That holds two ranks of infantry

Very useful video Dom. I’ve tackled a couple of spruces so far, but need to get better at doing them fast for the 3 foot effect. Given that P&S will never be my main effort, it needs to be cheap and quick!

Thanks for this. It's a great help. One thing that disappoints me about the Epic ECW is they follow the wargamer's convention of having the pikes in four ranks and the shot in two. I don't know of any evidence musketeers were formed up in fewer ranks than their pikemen. Maybe it's a reenactor thing but it does annoy me.
@BootsontheTable10 ай бұрын
i know what you mean
@VioletMoonMediaWargames5 ай бұрын
Its more to represent the number of shotte to pike.... in units where the ratio was 1:1, the two shotte wings combined had the same number as the pike; therefore, if the pike are represented by two stands of two ranks, then the shotte should be - this means one stand of each side of a two stand pike centre.

Do you do the Epic Napoleonics? They are grueling with not many speedy ways of painting
@BootsontheTable10 ай бұрын
I havent embarked on Napoleonics as I already have 15mm metals but i do use a similar approach for 28mm Naps, prime red for brits and blue for French
