i wish he pointed out subtle specifics like how the right hand reference from lenin to stalin was pointing at the fact that stalin was on the right side of the communist party. its a nice little touch because stalin was different from lenin in that he believed in bringing a centralized government and bureaucracy to re-stabilize Russia which was in ruins after the Bolshevik revolution. this was very contradictory to what the revolution fought for in the first place, but at this point Lenin was dead and it was left in the hands of the people in the communist party. the right side of the party highly opposed the revolutionary ideals of a revolutionary state of left side of the communist party which conformed more to lenins ideals and had most of the initial Bolsheviks from the revolution such as Trotsky who worked alongside lenin from the beginning military-wise. stalin was the new guy who came, exploited the party, and got the power for himself both sides are stupid anyways but its fun history to look into sources: taking AP Euro a year ago (text book was some ap euro text book i dont remember the name could look up but i typed enough heh)

Voltaire is one of the most important men that has ever lived, he helped create the encyclopedias of all knowledge available at the time, he created the best french book according to the french academy(candide) , he also fed a whole city during a famine and even provided the european countries wih new farming techniques and it s said that his work accelerated the human advancements by around 100 years. He also disproved jacques rousseau thesis about the origin of humans(etat de nature) . Volatire survived the biggest earthquake of the centure too. This dude was a skilled duelist and won against a couple nobels. I've heard about this, there are records he said: "This creature softened my heart of stone. Excluding how history portrays him as a psychopath/sociopath, records say he wasn't really the best husband, and the wording of this quote (though could be translation error) is a little off.

My fav. Line is: "I'll be picking apart your Wu, with my Method, Man". This is absolute epic and I don't know how many people will get all three layers of references in this line. 1. Obvious reference to Method Man and Wu Tan. 2. A reference to Sun Tzu's actual name Sun Wu, Tzu is a honorary title added to his name. 3. Wu as a standalone character in Chinese means combat, so this is a line to dissect Sun Tzu's famous battle strategies with the Socrates Method. Full credit to Jeff Zhu for writing this up
@Gender_Ascender4 жыл бұрын
I like this stuff, I enjoy the fact he watches it and has a look over the outfits and costumes, but I wish he circled back to the lyrics and explained things as to why certain lines make sense. "I even crush motherfuckers when I'm laid in state" would've been a good one for example. I have no idea what makes that line, and I don't know how accurate it is. "Pride of Lenin took Trotsky out of the picture" references Stalin calling *himself* the successor to Lenin, even though Lenin himself did not want the man in charge, and Trotsky was the basically runner up to Stalin, but was forced to flee to Mexico where he was assassinated by Stalin's men in 1940. He was forcibly removed to prevent anything from stopping the dictator. There's so much to unpack in all ERB videos, but the Russian Leaders one in particular has a lot of amazing moments because of things like that, Gorbachev ending the Cold War, that sort of thing. I'd love to see Mr. Terry unpack these at the end of a video, going through them bit by bit like a rapid fire history lesson! Edit: I mean, Mr. Terry does say it's hard for him to catch everything, but I feel like if he had a little time he could record his immediate reaction live the way he currently does, but then have a more edited part right after where he gives more of a run through of as much as he knows in the rap, something he maybe has taken notes on, structured a little bit or at least goes through a bit more? I don't know, I feel like he could easily make a full video just on one of these raps at a time, but the editing is where it'd be most time consuming so I suppose I understand.

One is when the right hand man line comes up. Plus, I could end you with a whisper to your wife line by rasputin was a nod to how people thought he was controlling the tsar and fking his wife.
@Gender_Ascender3 жыл бұрын
@@urmumhuge5556 Exactly! A lot of ERBs best stuff has way more depth than most people would know, so there's a great opportunity to make reactions of a history teacher who can highlight them in a more structured way and all that, after their first and immediate response.

George Washington didn’t actually have wooden teeth, he had a mix of different human and animal teeth.

I believe he had some slaves teeth in the the mix too.

Timothy Dalbeck well it was never actually stated he had specifically slaves teeth, but it is likely. I don’t know why you felt the need to point it out though, I already said, human teeth. Unless you are suggesting that slaves are sub-human.

William of Wallace lived before the Greatkilt was even a thing - ditto the Claymore. He wore similar armor and clothing to English knights of the time.

He also wouldn't have been painted in woad. That would be like a soldier in Desert Storm walking onto the battlefield in a wool Civil War uniform.

Yeah, there's a big honking statue of him and it's not even close. That movie just made me roll my eyes. Even discounting obvious horseshit (Wallace's affair with the Prince's wife) they got basic, well known stuff completely wrong. Like the battle of Sterling. Or as it was actually known, the battle of Sterling Bridge. As in, it was fought around water and a bridge?

This is a golden concept. Congrats on blowing up Mr. Terry.
