As a Ravens fan, I sure miss this rivalry. These were the two best defenses in football. What made the Steelers better during this time was they had the better QB. Big Ben would always make the plays in the clutch to win the game. That was the difference early on until Flacco got more experience and started snatching some wins of his own. Two awesome franchises going for blood every time they met. Much respect Steeler fans.

It is crazy how many hall of famers competed in this rivalry lol I still hate Suggs, respect the talent though. I agree for much of this it seemed like Flacco would do something to lose it or couldn't make that 1 play when they needed it. Cincy had their rubs, but the constant was always the Steelers and Ravens. Every game seemed like it was to decide the division or seeding in the playoffs lol I miss it man never could tell how the game would go but knew Troy and Ray were coming to play.

Ben had so many clutch GW drives that season, but this one is IMO one of his greatest GW drives; on the road in Baltimore, against that defense with Ray, Suggs, Reed, Ngata, etc. with the division title on the line, and 92 yards to go. I'd say it was his best but he outdid himself later that year in the Super Bowl against Arizona.

So they didn’t have enough evidence to overturn the 1st down call but enough to overturn the call on the field at the end of the game and give a TD?... and before someone responds saying the TD was the right call, I agree, it was a TD. I’m just pointing out the inconsistency with the ref’s criteria even within the same game. The TD was definitely harder to tell that he was in, whereas the 1st down play it was pretty evident that he didn’t reach the mark.

I’m a Ravens fan and I hate the Steelers no matter what but the physicality and rivalry is slowly fading away and the browns seems to be a new rivalry in Lamar and Mayfield !! Miss the matchups between Ray and Polamalu and Lewis and Harrison

my dad had ravens season tickets for 15 years and when i got old enough to decide whether i wanted to go or not i always called dibs on the steelers game. guaranteed to be a great game for quite a few years. When the nfl started cracking down on defensive hits it got hard to watch when the penalty flags just flew all game long (usually against the ravens)

Don't count your chicken till they hatch everyone thought the high power 15-1 98 viking were going to the Super Bowl and they lost to Atlanta in the NFC Championship, Patriots 07 18-1 lost the Superbowl to the Giants, same happen last year Mahomes this and that and they lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship just cause they are good in the regular season doesn't mean automatically Superbowl Champs ask Dan Marino, Randy Moss and the times Peyton lost in the playoffs and Superbowl is any given Sunday my friend

To this day I’ve only gone to one ravens-Steelers game since going to this one. There was a war on the field and in the stands in this one 😂😂😂. In terms of that years series, it was 3-0 Steelers but it could have completely gone the other way with how close all three games were. I was 8 that year and it was my first year really watching football and the Ravens, and each loss was more and more soul crushing at the time. Looking back on it now, the Ravens offense was far too young to really beat Pittsburgh (the two defenses were basically just as good as each other). Flacco and Rice were rookies, McClain and Yanda were 2nd year guys. Harbaugh a first year coach as well. Ravens eventually made up for it obviously by winning the super Bowl in 2012. But you notice how 12 years ago this rivalry was high stakes and basically has been that way until 2020, it’s a credit to both organizations: Hall of Fame GMs, Likely Hall of Fame coaches, and not necessarily two Hall of Fame qbs (obviously bens in), but the ravens last two starters at QB are an MVP and a Super Bowl MVP. Interesting to see which one takes the North this year (or if the browns hop in there wouldn’t that be crazy).

I remember this game, but didn't understand all the controversy surrounding it since I was pretty young at the time. Seeing it now, I see why Ravens fans would be upset; the refs' explanation was terrible. I think it's safe to say that the ball did break the plane and replays definitely show that, however, the ref only stated that Holmes had two feet down in the endzone with possession, so we weren't given a legitimate reason for the reversal of the call. It's a TD when the ball breaks the plane, not when a player's body is in the endzone. According to the ref in this case, this shouldn't have been a TD. I'm not a Steelers or Ravens fan, but I get why Baltimore fans would be pissed about this call. It cost them the division and may have killed their shot at homefield advantage in the AFC Championship, where they ended up losing at Heinz Field ironically enough.
