[Epic Seven] Are the Overlord Characters Getting Buffed? Let's Talk About It

The Overlord Collab is about 2/3rds the way through and while many aspects of it are a homerun... it's hard to overlook the characters not being as good as people had hoped. Smilegate has posted polls for players to vote on the performance of heroes which is something that hasn't happened before. Perhaps it has to do with this month's Revenue?

Personally i think they should go harder into making Albedo a protection Knight and not a bruiser, if only because that make the Overlord dream team a better synergistic team. Momoga is your main carry with debuffs and doom garenteeing the eventual win. Shaltear is the anti-assasin killing the savior adins before they can get to Momo. And Albedo is the escort, reducing damage and debilitating the enemy. Making her another generic health scaling bruiser wont really fit the team anymore (and do we really need another hp scaling bruiser in the game anyway?)

They also just need to make better packs in general. Why not just sell the burning passion packs during the collab? Or sell something unique instead of just new/returning player trap packs? What those numbers tell me is that the game isn't doing much to incentivize a different population to spend on the game, it's the same folks buying the same stuff every month (probably monthlies). I'm not F2P but why would I spent 100 USD for some epic charms, BMs, and other stuff I get for free just by playing the game? Sell me summer pavel and Valentines Day Tama skins, I'll take those!

In general, for new players there's so many packs in the store that it's hard to tell what's 'worth' buying, and the early game floods you with rolls if you do the story at any real pace, so if you're just here to roll the overlord characters and leave there's no real incentive to pay for rolls.

Nah fr. I don't encourage it but man I cannot spend on this game simply because of how bad the packs are. Dokkan is prob the only game I've spent on and that's not even a pvp game 💀

I still don’t understand why making decent 20 dollar packs that 80% of players would buy, is worst than making 50-100 dollar backs than 20% of players buy. After all this is a mobile only game, not like this is some open world genshin impact kind a game. I’m so confused why they didn’t sell burning passion backs every day during this side story. They would be printing money right now.

Im a firm believer Always always pick up the collab characters & artifacts if possible Never voluntarily skip So many did so with example, Karina And many regret it Collabs arent always guaranteed a rerun necessarily So pick them up when you can, buffs happen, new discoveries happen

I think it would be cool to change Ainz S2 to -20% damage from blue, green, dark and have a stacking 1 turn debuff when he gets hit by red or light for 5% increased damage from those elements with it falling off when he takes a turn. Would make him strong vs certain elements and still able to get focused down a bit.

I think reducing his damage taken from light units to 10% instead of the 30% would make him more less squishy, also helps lore wise. His S1 needs to be less niche than just a stun aoe and his S3 needs to remove the 15% stuff, I aint using it until they remove his 15%

Sorry for the wall of words, 2am rant vibes before passing out for the night: I think people have the wrong perspective on e7 sensor data revenue. E7 should largely be viewed as a finished product that is not going to attempt for any significant market share gains in the gacha-sphere. Any released content is to defend its current position, not gain in position. The devs are kinda operating this way too; they are not really introducing new systems into the game that would expand the scope of who is attracted to e7. Funnily enough I feel the faster pace of power creep is also a symptom of this mindset. Either you release new units that hit a wider range of usability in new experiences you COULD be offering (imagine more units released for very pushed pve content or for unique versions of pvp), or your release new units to deepen what you already do (i.e. stronger and stronger rta units). SG seems committed to the latter. This might sound strange, but should a collab even be viewed as an event that increases revenue for that given month? From an establish players perspective, how would this cause an increase in spending compared to the slam dunk releases of meta units we have had? I'd also expect newer players drawn into the game from a collab to not spend during the first month (think about how many resources you get when starting the game). A newer player, who has the propensity to spend, would probably start doing so in about 2 to 3 months into the game. Get them to burn all their bms on these collab units, then they will shell out for that next meta rbg or ml5 they NEED. Perhaps collabs are simply loss leaders. Finally whether or not Albedo gets buffed, I have loved the communities split response to her. For being such a 'simple' unit, there has not been 1 clear build for her. You have counter 3f bruiser, aurius mega mit tank, and pushing speed up a little to lean into a more aggro play with her s3. How many units come out and its just obvious how they are meant to be played? Oh shalltear kills adin. Oh jenua is torrent aggro monster. Oh spp is a new clilias. While the build diversity of albedo is somewhat a function of people trying to find the correct role for a more subtle (one could say under-powered character), I have found it extremely enjoyable to get to think about how this unit should be used rather than just slotting it into the appropriate role.

Albedo needs a built in aurious to stand out amongst tanks, as she is right now if you put her on aurious, she's just another crimson armin like you said. In terms of being a bruiser, she's sucks, her s2 damage is none existent, ppl just tend to ignore her, after she s3s she just stands there doing nothing, ppl kill her last and that's that. That 20% crit damage reduction isn't really a factor if she's not on arious.

Lack of weekend buffs during collab = great sales. SG is shooting their own foot with monetization in general, but said lack feels even sillier then the usual.

Don’t skip. I skipped winter thinking next 3 would be op and being light on book marks. HUGE MISTAKE. Now almost 2 years since Aespa with no return in sight.

I am very surprised about the sensor tower. Because there was a lot of hype and pr surrounding the collabm. And I saw a lot of players returning to the game and lot of new players. This is further enforced by the fact that we had lag issues day 1. Not having lag issues dy 2 should be been a sign. So it means that e7 needs to do something big and be very perfect if they wanna get more revenue. Which is a daunting task. So some factors I think affected the revenue: 1. The collab heroes were average at best. So new players would rather skip then try to whale to get these units. 2. A lot of people saved because of SGs lack of content the last few months. Myself included I just refreshed the shop 😌 3. There are no good packs to buy. I'm not spending the $50 4. CN has not started their collab yet.

SG makes a lot of mistakes with managing power creep and hero balance and they actually have a policy against fixing most of those mistakes. Paying for that would be stupid. If they want *my* money, they should roll out a ton of nerfs, demonstrating an effort to develop a quality product worth buying.

I would say that a passive more in line with Ainz's lore would be something like: ignores 1000 fix damage of all damage he receives except damage dealt by fire and light element heroes and give him a couple more buffs like eff or effres on proc

I think they had a lot of unused creative space here & I’ve said this before.. when you have little room left for releasing things that are just generically better- release more things that are just weird. Theory crafting is a massive draw to most games of this type. Would be great if it pulled even further away from gear stats and even more on unique character interaction. All and all I was meh on this collab despite LOVING the series. Am still scratching my head on why Shalltear didn’t get some type of built in life steal. Woulda been cool to see (what’d effectively be an aoe provoke), but in the form of an animation where Albedo jumps infront of Ainz to protect him… Bc theme. She’s seriously over protective. Maybe Ainz getting a buff to his s1/2 when either of his counterparts dies in battle. Idk.

Ainz needs a full rebuild. His s3 needs ignore ER, but his kit isn't good. He's a dead unit with his current design

If they intend to buff Albedo they need to extend the banner. Imagine people that didn't pulled because between Albedo and Shalltear they found Shalltear more to their uses. Only to then change Albedo AFTER you can pull for her. And Ainz is disapointing, and the whole "Lore" excuse is BS. They've ignore or avoided lore in other collabs. In addition, if it was really Lore accurate then he would have more OP attacks. He is even physically strong if you count Momom. And if you are gonna factor his susceptibility to Light and Fire. Then why not account for his immunity to Ice? And have him take reduced damage from Ice elements. And he should be immune to some status. Like poison, sleep, bleed, etc. But then again. Rimuru shouldn't have been green since lore wise he is immune to fire. And we saw that early on when Ifrit tries to burn him. Also. I'm glad it was this colab. Cause I didn't have many resource. I would've been pissed if we got Konosuba and was unable to summon Megumi. At least Overlord, the characters they release. I'm not really a fan of. Of the Guardians I like Cocytus, of the Pleiades Sebas, of the guilds Evileye is pretty high.

u are way to focused on 1way: why Ainz isnt doing hes s3 right! try think about if u dont have effect res to counter it. then it would be proberly one of the most OP s3 in the game with strip and death sentance! try look at things from many perspectives!

You misunderstood me. S3 should ignore Absolute Resistance, the 15% chance that any skill can fail in Epic Seven. It should ignore that, not Effect Resistance entirely. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough.

not surprised, it didnt make as much. Overall execution of the collab was great except for the balance/kit part but thats the most important one. Nobody is trying to triple S carmin 2.0 and the unit that LPK is about to creep.

In 100 pulls I got 3 shalltears and 3 pippette lance but on 120 pulls I got pity albedo and no artifact... I truly wanted 3F but I guess I can't complain

Just from selling all of the 4 and 3* artifacts I got from all the free pulls I'm able to get enough dust to buy both artifact copies, the bottle and a copy of abyssal crown. I don't know how anyone could be dust poor right now.

I rather Ainz get his S1 unable to be countered like Stene S1 so I can use him speedy and on abyssal to stun ppl without much risk

What’s the point of buffing a character after their limited banner ends if the goal is to get people to spend money to pull for them. Unless they plan on reopening her banner after buff?

if youre looking for opinions heres mine: I came in to the game specifically because it had an overlord collab (i did the same thing with AFK Arena years ago). AS SOON as i saw that Ainz and Albedo were ass and basically unusable in most content and didnt get buffs in preview i immediately dropped the game and refunded what i had spent on the game.

I think the biggest problem with albedo is that the most fun way to use her is with her maxed out P2W artifact, but most people probably spent bookmarks on Shalltear just because they think her kit if more fun and because it gives a better bonus for the farm event. People ain't want to use a pure tank character nor a handicapped +15 3F bruiser albedo.

Actually I spent bookmarks on both, and got both. I have spent more bookmarks on Albedo then Shalltear though because I like her better.

This speaks for me! I'm a newbie tho so only speaking from a new player perspective, but if they made the 3F artifact similar to the Lance artifact that is to proc 100% of the time and the damage increases as it gets more dupe fed into it, then, I would like it better, and would've probably kept on trying to get one even after max imprinting unit! That's unwise but powder is hard to get early.

i returned to Epic seven because of Overlord collab. I am bombarded with a lot of freebies and i was able to pull shaltear and albedo and just bought the 2 artifacts since RNG is shit.. so i dont need to spend money on them... and since Albedo is kinda disappointing....I dont need to whale of copies of her. and looking at the shop... all of the offerings in the cash shop is to me NOT BANG FOR MY BUCK....too expensive and too few in return to the value of my time and monkey brain.

This is definitely a major issue I think. . . Monetization is just bad in E7. A better solution would be to reduce the game's gear RNG and adjust the cost and quality of all the packs to be more in line with other games.

I just pulled one copy of Albedo bcuz I knew I would go balls deep into the Shalltear banner. I hope Albedo does not get a crazy buff. I fear she may become the next Karina. Ainz imo really needs a serious buff.

S3 ignore res. Remove light damage as e7 already has light/dark damage. Raise s1 damage in case you want to build him dps instead of just a cookie cutter 1 only build. Albedo: to me just needs a small pinch of damage to bicorn. Not crazy

My changes would be maybe ignore eff res soulburn (yeah yeah I know). Then make Ainz a focus character since he has counters. All it does at 5 is an extra turn. Kinda like Volcanic Viper I guess?

Nice Yukari pfp. The best girl in all of persona. Also I agree, but I don't really think it should be even a soulburn, but rather fixed ignore ER. Ainz S3 is literally 80% of his entire character and it must be consistent. In the end his S3 getting resisted needs to be changed either with soulburn or fixed ignore ER. Besides that, then I guess nerf his damage suffered from light elemental heroes to like 10%, cuz 30% is too much.

I agree. Yukari best Persona girl! Just did a playthrough of P3R recently. I think S3 needs to ignore Innate Effect Resistance by default. Spending souls for it means he's still bad. I like the idea of 5 Focus for an extra turn in theory...but the trend seems to be resource reduction lately.

Yukari is #1 yeah. Thanks. On the topic of ainz though even if he did ignore er he's too easy to kill right? Maybe have duals, extra attacks, and counters accelerate S3 cooldown? That way you can build him tanky and maybe with like a peira or something you can force them to attack ainz. Obviously not the #1 strat but it'd maybe solid and fun to pull off. (Not to mention possible) 💀💀💀
