Man, I only play the Mobile Game, and know nothing of board games in general. This gameplay video really helped me understand at least the gameplay of what i'm buying. I really hope the board game is fun with friends (the solo experience also seems pretty interesting!). Great vid! Cheers! (Sorry for the broken English, i'm not a native speaker 😔)

The gameplay seems different from the rulebook in KS. The player skill cards only consist of 1 and 2 (there is no skill 3,4,5 and 6 cards)where you use one skill card 1 to use first skill, two skill 1 cards or one skill 2 card second skill and one skill 1 and skill 2 card to use 3rd skill. Then there is dual attack using the soul like the mobile game. Not sure did they changed the rules before or after this prototype
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
This is the newest version of the rules, what they sent me a few weeks ago. Yeah, it's weird. I watched KS videos like the how to plays and didn't recognize most of the gameplay. The card play is entirely different. Which makes me worried they are still trying to figure it out!
@singyangchai44693 жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop I prefer the KS version rules as it feels more like the mobile game and seems more refined. Using soul to take player skill card looks more confused. and also the dice seems more redundant
@JohnnyLeyenda2 жыл бұрын
It seems the game is still in the "Late Pledge" stage (KS has not been delivered yet from what I can see) and even though I skipped the original campaign because I felt the gameplay wasn't that interesting, I am kinda tempted now to get it, since I've been playing the mobile game more and more over the last year or so and I really like the visual design of this.

@@OneStopCoopShop all the box shapes and frames have a dynamic that is reflected in the circling blue tokens. When other games add illustrations they just frame them with their design elements; here the color range, saturation and contrast is composited to work with the graphic design.

Love the video. I was thinking making the game full coop, only allowing 4 character games (even when playing solo), only attacking once per character (enemies slightly squishier), and balancing some characters towards support would fix these issues. What do you think?
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
Sounds generally good, but I think one attack per turn is too limiting. That takes away all the fun combos of the turns
@spencerast96123 жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop Thank you! Good point. The combos do look like a fun aspect. My fear is just that between you and the other gameplay video, 4 man teams would destroy all enemies before they have a chance to do anything. Do you have any suggestions for balance without making the enemies damage sponges?

@@OneStopCoopShop Subscribed now, by the way.
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
@@spencerast9612 my thought is that you get too many attacks, and the main culprit of that is too many blue cards (which chain into more attacks), which makes them the obvious choice when you level over red cards. So if I were designing this, I'd probably change the blues to be a draw and discard instead of just a draw. Like maybe the hero starts with 6 cards, and each blue played let's them draw a card then discard any card, to help set up other attacks. But with only 6 cards you'll be limited to at most maybe 3 attacks.

Thanks for making the video Mike. Personally, I would've thought that either Colin or Bairnt would've been the first choice to do this playthrough, as they enjoy these types of games, and evidently you don't. But you still gave viewers a good idea on how it plays. Cheers
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure what you mean. Bairnt certainly enjoys crawlers more consistently than I do, and Colin is the same for adventure games, but I like them, sometimes quite a bit, when they are generally well done. See my recent Bloodborne review for an example of this. This game is still just very rough around the edges, and the rules aren't clear enough. I hope they keep developing and improving it, but I don't think Bairnt or Colin would have had any more fun with it in its current state.

@@69columbus by the way, for whatever reason Colin really doesn't seem to like anime art styles, lol. Bairnt certainly does, but I think that's part of why Colin didn't enjoy Middara much. Whereas I'm all about the anime. For examples of this type of game from last year that I enjoyed more, I'd check out Kradia: Wild Hunt Festival and/or Testament. Both are solid plays :)

I backed this in the last hr after following the campaign from day 1. The card play seems alright, but I guess it will get very repetitive unless they come up with some interesting enemies or scenario based limitations. No problem with artwork for me as I have worse stuffs on my display shelf. Lol

Glad i watched this video, good video and honest thoughts. They need to find a balance of being difficult cause being hard brings tension and analyzing/ trying to make smart moves but not too hard that it becomes frustrating, the enemies need to be faster or more harder. The game play seems like it might be too repetitive and not enough variety or atleast so far. As for the fanserivce in anime i have a problem with it and how complacent and prevalent it is but luna is one of my favorite characters and at first i hated how people focused on her big "plot" but i started to giggle at it and not take it too seriously. Part of it is I'm apart of a positive community in Epic7 and i enjoy Epic7 (only video game i play). I don't think fanserivce is inherently bad but i think the culture, nature of it, how prevalent it is, and the toxic part needs to change. I do agree with you i just wanted to share my perspective cause i went through different phases how i looked at it. Hope this game goes well and fix some of the issues even if the final product isn't what i want I'll just probably make up my own rules to have fun.

Thanks so much for your thoughts, and I think it's a great perspective. I had sort of a similar relationship to fanservice in the anime Food Wars, if you've heard of that one. Seems like the art style of the game killed the mood for you to review/preview this prototype right from the get-go. I cancelled my pledge at the last 48 hours because they didn't have any gameplay video up at the time and I'm glad I did. It really feels like the designer is catering to the fan of the mobile game by starting the adventure with random characters like Luna -- an obvious attempt at fan servicing because the parent company Smilegate made millions $$ when Luna character was introduced (and millions $$ more when she was re-introduced again lol). This could've been a better game had they follow the canon approach to the story and character development, but instead they follow the money trail by fan servicing... what a let-down and I was a big fan of the game too.
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was something that surprised me. I only played the app a few hours, but I imagined they would be starting me with those same core characters. Though I guess this IS scenario 5, so maybe there are other characters earlier. PS - thanks for the details on character success and such. That's a side of the game I know nothing about!
@PickleTheHutt3 жыл бұрын
The presentation of the female characters is a disgrace and still way too common in gaming. Even if the gameplay was good (which it certainly seems it isn't), the female character art alone would make this an absolute hard pass.
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
In a way they are in a tough situation, because they have the app game already out there, with all the art done, so I'm not sure how fans would react to them suddenly shrinking body parts :) But I agree with you, I don't like it!
