So jealous, lol! 😉 Noe, really, so awesome. What an amazing lady Mary Ann must be! The Sleeping beauty mine quit producing in 1986. I grew up in Phoenix (I'm almost 70, now), but when I was a kid in the late 50's and early 60's, my parents worked a lot with the missionaries on the Fort Apache and San Carlos Indian reservations, where they mined peridot (my birthstone). In fact there's a town there named Peridot. The Indian kids that went to the missionary high school gave me a full paper lunch bag of peridot. I was a dumb little kid and didn't realize the value of it, and just thought it was a bag full of green rocks. I did think it was cool that the rocks were green and kind of see through. I still hung onto that bag though, even when the paper was almost falling apart...until I was married and my ex made me leave it behind with a bunch of my other stuff when he decided to wander around the country and didn't want to drag it with us. 😒 I sure wish I had that now. Actually, on the reservation where it was mined and in Peridot (the town), it was pronounced peri-DOT, as in the word "dot". When I was going through some of my dad's things a couple years ago, I found a plastic bag of tiny, raw amethyst chips and torquoise nuggets. They're or were...? mined in the Superstition Mts. and Bisbee, AZ. I haven't quite figured out what to do with them. They're good quality for the most part, some of them almost perfectly clear with no inclusions, and deep reddish purple. But they're so tiny, nothing could really be made from them (mostly around 2mm or so). Besides, they were my dad's so I want to hang onto them. Still kinda would like to maybe at least get them polished. So yeah. There I go rattling on again. 🙄🙂

Thanks for all of the background on that! I love the Phoenix area, and have been there probably 5-6 times over the years. Now I would love to return for bead/gem related reasons!!

Just an FYI: The Sleeping Beauty mine is closed.... so there's a strong possibility (looking at the size of beads) that you have some moderately "old" pieces.... those should be worth a decent amount.... Good for you Gina! 🤗

Hi Gina, I was looking back at some of your old videos and came across this one. I'm still jealous, wow what a awesome gift. Well thing is I have some of those tiny drops like yours and have been looking for ways to use them. Was wondering if you would have any ideas to pass along?They seem to small to wire wrap so I'm stuck. Thanks for any input.

Thanks, Mary! I enjoy using the time drops as embellishments on the front of a necklace, as one example. They can be nice incorporated into beadweaving.

Gina I've got a question. I'm from Europe, if I would contribute on your Patrion, the Beautiful Beaders (25$), would it be possible to get the bead stash to Europe and do you know how much extra I would have to pay for the transport costs. Greetings, Sindy
@ORCHIDandOPAL5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sindy! I appreciate you asking. I looked up approximately how much it would cost to ship the package to Belgium, and it would cost me about an additional $10. If you would like to go ahead and do this, I would be happy to set up a special international option just for you at a rate of $35, including shipping. Please e-mail me at orchidopaljewelry@gmail.com, and let me know, so I can send you a special link to sign up. Hope you have a great day!
