Seriously tho^^^ slide on some gravel doing 50 mph wearing full gear like 3 days ago, bike is fucked but cause of my gear and some luck I walked away with a few scratches and bruises. That anit rip weave is no joke, even after a 50 mph slide my gear is still good with very little damage!!

I Bought a KTM 690 SMC-R new in 2012, (first year of release in UK) I covered 9000 miles in my first year of ownership, many miles of which were wheelies, great fun bike but it wasn't without its issues, bolts frequently vibrating out, i had an Akrapovic exhaust rattle itself to pieces (replaced under warranty) few minor electrical issues, air temperature sensor faults. burnt a colossal amount of oil in its first 3000 miles but settled after that. Now the issues of the fire, the tank in the rear is not an issue, i noticed after doing a wheelie that the rear fender was wet, that leak plus the sparks from looping is what caused the fire, the tank is plastic anyway, its location is irrelevant unless it leaks. soon realised that the gasket in the rear tank cap leaked, so i made another out of an old inner tube and screwed it in, never leaked since, did notice that the rear light was cracked, put that down to a long term fuel leak from the tank cap running over the rear light, sounds stupid, but plastic constantly being soaked in fuel and then drying out over and over again, my money was on that. i never looped it, i loved it but i did end up with some points on my licence. Good times though.

690s aren't for stunting, They're engineered for stability and faster track times. If you want a bike for stunting grab a Grom with a stunt hoop and cage.
