We will provide the latest updates on the cases here: **Case 1**: Rios-Gonzalez, the victim, suffered a traumatic brain injury and subsequently sued the police department over her treatment. The officer involved was charged with criminal attempt to commit manslaughter and reckless endangerment but was acquitted of all charges in a juryless trial. The parties reached an $8.5 million settlement. **Case 2**: Following the suspect's death from a crash, his family filed a lawsuit against the officer and his department. The District Attorney determined that the officer's actions were lawful, and the lawsuit is still ongoing. **Case 3**: The suspect, Lamar Bell, did not survive after being rushed to the hospital. All officers were cleared of any wrongdoing by both the police department and the District Attorney's office. **Case 4**: The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Derrick Scott, was pronounced dead. Autopsy reports exonerated the officers from any culpability in Derrick's death. **Case 5**: During an investigation, a large, aggressive dog charged at the officers, leading one of them to discharge their weapon, accidentally striking another officer in the back. A review board determined that the shooting was accidental, and the officer involved, Aaron Wright, will not be terminated. **Case 6**: The suspect was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Subsequently, the man’s family filed a civil lawsuit against the police department and the officers involved. The officer who discharged the weapon also faced criminal charges for his actions.

Case 2 is definitely the drivers fault. The driver saw two people on the highway, one of which were a cop, the driver saw one of them fall to the ground and still didn't stop. The driver had five seconds to stop after seeing the person fall, and seven seconds to stop after seeing people in the road. The cop acted lawfully, but the driver acted stupidly. Not to mention the driver kept driving and didn't stop, either knowing damn well what they had done, or they were drunk or high. Oh, not to mention that driver was speeding, considering the minimum you can go on a highway is 55 MPH, maximum 65 MPH.

Here police may beat the shit out of you, but they are unlikely to use their sidearm, because they know they are going to be at a disadvantage if they do. Last year, had a case with a drunk driver violating traffic, then denying driving until eventually becoming aggressive. He started beating the female cop, downed her against the car and was hitting her in the face. He broke her nose, gave her a concussion and started reaching for the handgun. The other cop shot him several times and he died on the spot. The cop got imprisoned for murder and "excessive force"??? My guy was following all of the rules of using the sidearm and still got in trouble. Don't forget that all cops are ex-military and have a year of school, and even now people think it's not enough

Not quite as simple as you describe. The suspect was dishonest from the getgo. If the cops give the EMT inaccurate information that the suspect said, and it was wrong, his family could sue them for mistreating the person. The whole shitstorm of a situation was caused because Bell was dishonest and lied to the cops. He created the catastrophe that ended in his death. @@commandstring Should've had his taser, for sure. I think the reason he got hit for the shot was because he didn't have the tazer, and because of the argument "What if this was just someone out on a smoke break? @@stalincat2457 yeah, i dont blame them, but given that they have no idea how much he had swallowed I think they could've been a bit more careful. You know for a fact the guy definitely swallowed the drugs but you don't know how much he was carrying to start. Again I don't blame them, and I'm not trying to play a game of bad faith, it's a legitimately hard call; yet given that he had ingested anything, between his eccentric actions and the effects of cocaine he probably realized something was wrong but felt too high until his heart started beating fast. Here's the thing with coke, you feel every bit of yourself ODing, comes on with heart palpitations first and then your heart starts beating and seizing like crazy until you finally pass out and/or die. He probably felt the palpitations and calmed down when he didn't feel anything too wrong due to the drug until he realized like "Wait actually-". Kind if like where you cut yourself and you dont think its to bad until you finally start bleeding. Cops aren't at fault here, they could've done better but that's looking in retrospect.
