The Hodor origin reveal is as brilliant as it is tragic. Getting a greeting from actor Kristian Nairn (Hodor) is awesome! After this episode first aired, there was a wave of companies that were selling door stops of different designs with the name "Hodor" on them.
@lethaldose2000Ай бұрын
This End of Episode it truly heartbreaking. -------- The time loop for Brad to go back and give Hodor the seizure that would set him on the path for the rest of his life is so intense and heartbreaking. ----------- I was broken the first time I saw it and every time since.

I feel like while everyone thought Hodor was dim, he was still himself underneath. He continued his duty to the Starks knowing that his final duty would be this one day. It is a tragic thing, but it is what he was meant to do. He knew it would come, he knew it would be awful, and he did it anyway. One of my fav archs.
@AliceRedFox96Ай бұрын
It's hard to say that “Hodor did it” since he was essentially traumatized from childhood by Bran himself, albeit unintentionally. What's dramatic is that it was Bran who sealed his fate in the future (present) and lived his entire life essentially watching the consequences of his actions, including as a warg. The moment of the dead men's attack is not only the culmination of Hodor's existence, its beginning and end, but also the moment of Bran's full realization of what his actions have cost him and what he has doomed another human being to. There's a bit more context in the books that adds to the drama of this moment: Wargs have unspoken rules, taboos - no eating in animal form, no mating in animal form, and certainly not taking on the body of another human! (not many wargs seem to be able to do this at all). Also, the moments when Bran takes over Hodor's body describe the sheer hideousness of the process: Hodor no longer resists Bran, but hides like a beaten dog in some tiny corner of his mind that even Bran can't touch. With that in mind, the scene becomes even more heartbreaking
@Bled420Ай бұрын
Some cool stuff to think about.. there’s a theory that Hodor could hear everything when Bran warged into him in the past (When he was still Willis) so as he grew up he was afraid of loud noises (like thunder in season 3 when they were in the tower and Bran warged into Hodor for the first time). Additionally.. before the white walkers attack them in the cave, Hodor sits down with a look of recognition on his face like he’s having Deja-Vu. They were all meant to sacrifice themselves for Bran but Hodor was put on a path in life to be the Hero they needed. Hodor is the real MVP/GOAT. RIP King

When Meera's brother died, the 3 eyed raven told her that he knew where he was taking them and knew his fate but did it anyway knowing it was the role he had in the fight against the walkers and knowing how important Bran was. 23:00 “when I take the seven kingdoms, I need you by my side” What a subtle foreshadowing… (Spoiler version: he is at her side during the Long Night, but that is not her taking back the seven kingdoms, and he dies protecting her. That means he is no longer at her side as a councilor when she could have used him most, to prevent her from the path of destruction she takes. Jorah, unlike Jon and Tyrion, doesn’t have an ulterior motive to keep Dany from running rampant in King’s Landing.)

7:16 It's always hard to tell with Littlefinger but I think he really didn't know about Ramsey. Nobody knew. The Bolton's nearest neighbors are the Starks and they didn't even know. Martin from season 1 to have a payoff in season 6 shows the depth of the GOT iceberg story and lore. ---------- To know the tragic story of Hodor from the time he was 12 or 13 years old to serve his purpose 30-40 years later in MINDBLOWING.
@KJGouldАй бұрын
Whole concept of what happens makes you wonder how else Bran might have manipulated the timeline - and if he was always fated to. Quite the mind trip.
@ccispahan7514Ай бұрын
I feel quite certain that Bran was always fated to do what he did because of the 3ER’s dialogue with him and his whole attitude. Bloodraven clearly knows how things are supposed to unfold and embraces his own fate. He gives Bran the necessary nudge when he hesitates to warg into Hodor from his vision: ‘listen to your friend, Bran’. And then: ‘It’s time’.
@AliLarson-h2iАй бұрын
I wonder if the old 3-eyed raven manipulated Hodor's and Bran's whole lives to maximize Bran's chances of becoming ready in time to carry the wisdom of the ages away from the tree.
@ccispahan7514Ай бұрын
@AliLarson-h2i It would not be beneath Bloodraven to make such a calculated decision. The 3-Eyed-Raven does not have a backstory in the show unfortunately… but book readers know his past and guessed his identity (Brynden Rivers aka Bloodraven) and well… he has a crazy path. Don’t want to spoil it, you can find out more info in the books and the lore books. We will probably see him in his prime in the new GoT series ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ in 2025. And we caught a glimpse of him in Daemon’s last vision in HoTD S2.

This episode absolutely broke me the first time I saw it. I could only speak in Hodors for like a full 24 hours after I saw this episode. I even had an entire conversation with a friend about the episode using only the word Hodor. Because if you think about it, not only did Bran kill Hodor here essentially, but Hodor has spent most of his life stuck in the moment of his death mentally because of Bran. The only other episode that comes close to hitting me as hard as this one did is the episode where Shireen died. And this one hits me harder because at least Shireen had some level of autonomy and control of her own mind at the end. Hodor did not. Though at least his death had more meaning than Shireen's because he died saving the lives of Bran and Meera, but it was not his choice to do so. Hodor's death was truly tragic, especially because he has been trapped in that moment for so much of his life. 😢
