not entirely. Odysseus's actions are understandable, but not neccessarily "right," which is what Mr. Jalapeno was going for (cuz hes evil muehehe), but it makes sense for Telemachus, who idolizes his father, to see him as infallible, and the other adult characters to see the nuance and flaws of his actions. Like with Scylla, Odysseus could have easily kept some sirens to use as bait rather than his men, but in his desperation and frankly lack of care, decided to use his own men. That isn't "right". And even Eurylochus's mutiny after this was justified, as the leader of the crew Odysseus has responsibilities which are different from Eurylochus's, and the main one is the safety of his crew (a good example is the cut song with Odysseus and the other guy while with the lotus eaters aka the origin of "maybe Im the monster" :D), and by disregarding that responsibility in pursuit of his own endeavor to make it home, Odysseus proved himself unworthy of the title of captain as he showed he was willing to sacrifice men to accoplish his goals. Sorry I just like to rant :) don't take this as an argument :D

@@____3555 I'm also not sure if keeping sirens would have been a good choice, since in the original story, they only escape them by literally being unable of hearing anything. The beeswax covered all of the crewmates' ears so they wouldn't hear neither the siren's song nor odysseus' screams. They are far too dangerous to be captured and used as bait for Scylla.

I loved that you used Neal's Thunder Bringer for this. Neal gives the gods something the canon animatics lack: an imposing presence. These are divine beings capable of wiping any trace of you from the world with a snap, having them be like 6'2 feels a little, non intimidating for a god, let alone Zeus.

sighsss eurylocus they could never make me hate you (genuinely, eurylocus is so understandable and one of my favorite complex characters. him opening the wind bag was dumb of him, i can admit that. the whole starvation thing on helios’ island makes me sob. him saying “i’m just a man” has so much symbolism too. him not going after odysseus (at least in neil’s animatic) shows how understanding he is of odysseus’ actions afterwards 🙁) what i dislike is when people DON’T look at eurylocus’ actions and try to understand him. he’s the literal VOICE of the men, which is such an important thing to me. it’s insane to me that people will simply ignore that factor and just hate on him. we’re literally told in “monster” on the foes perspectives, telling us that there is always reason as to why people do the things they do. it’s crazy to me how people just forget that once they take a look at eurylocus. anyways, i’ll always be a eurylocus defender… SORRY ABOUT THAT RANT THERE BUT THIS REACTION WAS AMAZING AUGHAHSHSHSH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Lo de Eurilicos se podría decir que al no saber lo que pasaría abrió la bolsa con curiosidad, evidentemente fue su error pero el no sabía lo que pasaría y apenas pasaron por dónde Poseídon quiso confesarlo a Ody, pero este lo ignoro, lo de Circe se podría decir que tenía miedo de ir a rescatar a 3 de sus compañeros y pagar con las vidas, se preocupa más cuando Ody fue a salvarlos por qué tenía miedo que el no regresará vivo. Odyseo por su parte ama a su tripulación como sus hermanos y si bien cuando más avanza la historia el se tuerce más y es capaz de sacrificar a sus propios hermanos por ir con su esposa, el NO quería dejarlos morir a todos aún cuando lo traicionaron, en cuando a eso, queria comentar que si bien su tripulación lo ""derrocó"", seguían siendo leales a él, pensando su herida para evitar su herida y aún sabiendo que el sacrifico intencionalmente a 6 de sus hermanos no lo mataron, incluso tengo la sospecha de que esperar a q el despertara para matar a la primera vaca y comer juntos😭 Lo de Penélope en está reacción se podría responder fácil como simple empatía, así cuando las personas se sienten mal al ver a un animal salvaje herido o agonizando, un ejemplo para ponerlo simple! Esto lo escribo no por "defender" a un personaje en específico, sino para dar a entender que todos son personajes grises, con motivaciones que si bien han hecho cosas cuestionables o horribles es facil empatizar con ellos, un ejemplo de ellos es el mismo Odyseo, que bueno, el mismo dijo que mataría y haría cualquier cosa por ver a su familia. En si, en el musical no hay ningún personaje "bueno" o "malo" son todos personajes grises como mencioné☝️🤓

to clarify, when eury said (on circes island) that "you and i lets run." he meant him, odysseus AND the crew that wasnt captured ("you and i lets run" was more so him saying we should run with what we have left, and him and ody being the two in command meaning theyd be running away with the remaining crew) hence "think of the men we have left before there non lets just cut our loses you and i and lets run!", he was saying to leave the ones already captured (cutting their loses) by circe and not risk more lives, not that they should leave the entire fleet. also in the odyssey (i think) Eurylochus and the crew were AWARE that those cows were helios or atleast owned by someone divine, but they had been hungry and gave up finding a way home a long time ago and im guessing that now that theyve seen the lengths their captain was willing to go to get HIMSELF home they decided (in the oddyssey atleast) that dying by a Gods hand would be a better death than starving of hunger and wasting away on an island hence why they slaughter the cows. (anywhosies mb abt the rant, like this video was great im just a massive eurylochus defender)

Not necessarily. Unreasonable cruelty is not okay, but Telemachus is blinded by the idolizing of his father and doesn't see it that way, and thats whats SO COOL about his character :D. Odysseus could have easily just killed the sirens, but the unreasonable cruelty robs his actions of any justification. Sorry, rant :) please don't take this as an argument :)
