It's kind of more than that. That place makes you kind of get stuck in your REGRETS, and when you go there, you can heart every single other person you knew and all the guilt and blame they put into you. Polites, amazingly, despite being a mortal, DOESN'T become a specter of regret, guilt, and blame. He just wants what better for Odysseus, and everyone Else.

Want to know something even more heartbreaking? Not only is this how he finds out his mother died, but the reason she passed is because she saw the ships coming but saw the storm push them out and she thought they died so she drowned herself in the ocean to be with her son. 😢🥺
