Athena is Zeus' favorite daughter, so Neal's animatic speaks so much more to me. Plus Hera's whole peacock thing, and Hephaestus literally having visual representations of what actually happened to him (like the cracked head etc) in the proper lore... I love it. I love Neal's animatics every single time. I'm so happy you watched that one too!

Also his giant golem isn't even unusual for him, he was known for having bronze automotons who worked in his forge, so to build a giant one isn't uncharacteristic. Edit: Silver and gold, not bronze. My bad, I had to go look it up.

So Jorge explained in a TikTok that Athena and Ares have a similar ability. Athena's Quick Thought as we know makes it so that the individuals perception of time slows to make it easier to calmly formulate and plan before acting, which makes Ares's version (hilariously called Dark Quick Thought) less rational and more emotion fueled instinct. Essentially its "whats the best action to get the outcome I want" VS "whats the fastest way to get you out of my way." So when Athena used her QT, Aress activated his DQT *inside* of her QT (which gave her a headache), to which Athena then activated a QT *inside* his DQT. Quick Thought inception!

18:30 I wanted to add something to your comment he doesn't just "take her out of it" he counters it. Athena and Ares are very close relatives. They share domain of "War". Their difference is one is also rules over wisdom while other is courage.(mainly.) so their powers are similar. In a short Jorge explained that while athena gives you a moment to think with time slowing down , putting you inside "quick thought" Ares does something very similar. Time slows down again and everything moves slow but instead of being able to think you just enter into a bloodlust where you ignore pain and crush enemies with strength you found. Listen back ground carefully: clock noise is still there. That means "quick thought" is still active but because both of them using it now it is even slower. That is why Athena is yelling in anger, thats what Ares does with his own "quick thought"

Fun fact, Zeus does have enough power to kill Athena. Only they're very close, so he would only do it if she really pissed him off (like when she pulled the cheating card lol). But they're very close, so I don't recall any story when they ever fought.

The reason Ody Sees Polities, Eurylochus and his mom is because Calipso induced an PTSD episode- "Ody" like Ery called him right before he killed the cow, "Stay Inside My Heart" like his mom sung out in the Underworld when he found out she died, and of course "Open Arms." This is also why he doesn't see any other crew members

The thing about God Games is Zeus stacked the odds against Athena: every god there is close to Poseidon. He gave Apollo the music of the sirens, but his children also helped Hephaestus in his forge; the cyclops Brontes, Steropes and Arges. And when Hephaestus caught Aphrodite cheating on him with Ares, Poseidon was the one to offer to pay Hephaestus when Hephaestus trapped them in his wedding bed with a, well, trap, to embarrass them. And Hera owed him because he's the one who argued Hephaestus down from revenge on her in the stories where she threw him from Olympus for his lameness. Whether Jorge chose this on purpose or not I can't say, but it works out really well.

I personally love anniflamma's hera cause not only does it emphasize her clothes as acting like a peacock tail, but she's also the tallest one there besides zeus, and athena barely reaches her ankle. The original olympians were born from the Giant's so ofc they'd be huge af, Its one of those small touches I love. Also Jorge himself said that each argument is like a different stage and character to fight just like the elite 4 in Pokemon.

For the Vengeance Saga I recommend: Maevethefae for Not Sorry For Loving You (absolutely gorgeous art style!) Ximena Natzel for Dangerous Chaebony for Charybdis NiNE for Get In The Water (unique art style and their take on the events of the songs is so cool!) Duvetbox for 600 Strike For the Ithaca Saga I really really recommend watching the premiere party! It’s a two and a half hour video. I’d say start watching at 2:08:43. The canon visuals Jorge included are just so cool and add so much!!

Calypso is also stuck on the Island (She's stuck there for all eternity thx to Zeus) so she isn't really keeping him there, its just impossible to leave without the interference of other gods.
