I bet you are glad those two are down! Kieth made some good observations. You will get better as you go along. Looked like the second one had no hinge, good thing the line was attached! I kept saying to myself, you can do it! Good job!

Not my best felling, but yes, really glad they’re down! Especially with how dead they were up top and basically exploded on impact. So much firewood!

Okay…I’m not gonna get all critical judgmental on ya. Just some observations. Cause hey, it worked right! That come along saved you. First…wedges not shims. 😁🤣 Now, you face cut, the notch…WAAAY too shallow!! Generally speaking, at least a third of the thickness of the stump. The first tree was a non-issue because the lean was with it and you had really no top weight. The second tree, little more top weight but lean was more of an issue. Again, notch WAY too shallow. More concerning was the back cut. That should line up directly with the notch. On a larger stump it’s often easier to just use the saw tip to scribe a line around the backside to line up your back cut. Your wedges on the side closest to the house were good…the others, one or double stack on the back WITH the side wedge..the purpose of the wedges is not only to prevent the tree from setting back against itself on the stump, but to also give lift toward the fall line and your notch. The second notch should have been more toward the woods but, you had plenty of room to work with. Use the side of your saw to line up your fall. There’s a line created between the housing and the handle that gives you a sight gauge for the fall line. But hey…you got it done and it all went well. Watch your video and critique your own work…we are our own best critics you know. Again, you’ll be doing a lot of tree work so I can’t recommend enough, Buckin Billy Ray on KZbin. He is the guru of tree work! You’ll never find anyone better!! You would spend hours and thousands of dollars to learn all he teaches for free!!😁 Now, considering what those tree companies gave you for estimates, makes ya think about a change in career fields don’t it?!?!🤣🤣🤣 Even two thousand JUST to drop those two trees would have been highway robbery!! Maybe Massachusetts is charging a saw dust tax now and that drove the price to lunacy!!🤣🤣🤣👊🏻 Nice work and I was thrilled to hear the Mrs. giving the glory to God…over and over and over again!!😁🙏🏻

Highway robbery for sure! I agree, not the most technical of takedowns, but at least it’s down and nobody got hurt. First time really using the 36” bar for real and probably twice the size of the previous biggest tree I’ve taken down. I was happy with it. I’ve watched Buckin Billy Ray, he’s good. On to the next project!!!

Ha, we appreciate your support and all your comments! He’s a riot. I really enjoy watching him. I’m going to try and slab the big ok and make an outdoor table for the porch. We’ll see how it goes!
