Today we're milling a 12' long 34" oak tree using an Alaskan Chainsaw Mill to get some massive slabs! We're going to use the Stihl MS462C Chainsaw with the 36" bar and a 36" chainsaw mill. Will it be a success or an epic failure???

Cutting wood like this is kinda fun! I have the metal rails that go along with the mill. That is going to be one solid table! Good to see you making videos again!

Thanks! Good to be back! Rails would have made it easier for sure. That and a sharper chain, ha.

I’m supposing by the performance…and you just started cutting as I write this, you’re not running a ripping chain. It’ll be much easier with that. But you show it can be done right?!?! I don’t know what you’re running for a saw but 36 inches of chain is a lot of work for the power head. I’m running a 28 on a 93cc power saw…I could go 36 but I’m stressing my saw a lot less at 28. Yea, it means smaller trees absolutely…but it’s still a good board. Lovin seeing you back at it!!

Definitely maxing out the saw and the 36” bar is max recommended. I did have a ripping chain on it, but saw was struggling a bit with it. Something to add to the wish list, bigger saw!
