Way to go Dan!! Looked to be a good day for sure. Man, that fish at 15:00 looked nice. I usually make my yearly flattie trip down in mid to late May but haven't made it down yet this year. I never tried a second rod with minnow, although that's how my Dad did it back in the 80's when we would fish the back bays of OC. I'll have to keep that in mind when I do get down. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah. I bought a longer net after this trip haha. Lost it overboard before even using it at the Fish and Paddle Tournament in OC this weekend so ended up buying another floating one.

I hear some great stories from up North. Just something about finding them closer to home that makes the redemption feel real. Haha. Also, don't know anyone up there to buddy up with on the kayak so don't want to put myself in danger.

Yeah I totally get that, it's nice to find em on your home water's or at least closer to home. It's my first season kayaking in the salt which is why I'm absorbing as much as I can from you and others. I only stay in the bays and rivers up here so far and try to keep out of traffic. Keep up the good work, tight lines bro!

sweet looks like you got alot- we were there about 2 weeks ago and my son lost a good size one. Were you near the inlet? or more down the canal? We were near the inlet.

I tend not to go too far down the canal. I stay closer to the inlet.

Hey nice video, would you be willing to share location and launching spot. I'm a tournament fresh water bass angler, just starting inshore fishing. I live in DE, so looking for spots nearby to begin my inshore journey.

MAKBF? I've been interested in some of those events, but just now started this year on the USA Bassin Jackson Kayak Trail. The canal park that Allen mentioned is good with some prime spots, but I prefer the Lewes Public Boat Ramp at the end of Pilottown Rd. Free parking. I don't know how much the meters at the Canal Park are but I fish very long sessions so will avoid meters when possible. I like the drift I can do from the Boat ramps any how. As for spots... honestly just like bass. Any sharp depth change that creates a break in current. Straight steep banks are ok, but current breaks along twisted steep banks are what I focus on. Think of the canal as a river. The other spot is Cape Henlopen state park. Good spot to launch for early season blues, flounders and stripers. I personally get out of the canal after the spring run... mainly to get away from the traffic and concentrated boat noise. The wall... same deal. Look for current breaks and odd structure for flounder. Tog... look for the sticky bottom haha. Not trying to over generalize, but really it's going to vary by tide, weather, season so if you stick with the bass fishing basics it'll be the same pretty much. Biggest mistake I think people make for flounder is thinking they only like sandy bottom. They will lay up between rocks even for an easy meal. Hope that helps.
