I started my weight loss journey about a week after you. I started at 405 and this morning I am down to 349. For me I have been doing the carnivore diet and it has worked out really well for me. I have been able to shrink my stomach so I cant eat as much at one time anymore, I enjoy exercise more and I get grumpy if I cant go on my walk (cant run yet) and I feel so much better. My son is doing it as well an has lost over 20 lbs himself. I really like that I don't have to count calories or do portion control and as long as I don't eat at least 3 hours before bed I am good. You putting this out there is an inspiration and I know people are watching and wanting you to succeed. Maybe look into carnivore and see what you think. Best of luck.

For what it's worth, 38 into 40 is certainly not some death nail to positive physical improvement. Did the bulk of my fat loss, as well as a lot of improvement beyond just scale weight, during that time too - started not that far off from where you are now. You're still showing up for yourself and still engaging! Even gaining weight one week and catching it is an improvement over just continuing to gain weight week over week. Something is always better than nothing. Keep doing that consistently, even with the occasional slip up, and we're all capable of amazing changes over time.

I would like to issue 2 challenges... SLOWER IN: When you eat (At home, or out) When you take a bite, put the fork down and enjoy that bite of food. Regardless of what it is, enjoy it. Then if with friends - have a conversation before you take your next bite. This will allow the food to get to your stomach, and give time for the signal of "Oh I have something in me" to get to the brain. and you will find you become full before the plate is empty, and that you stay satiated longer. EXTRA OUT: When you go grocery shopping - once you have everything on your shopping list, go back and walk through EVERY aisle of the store. That's a quick bit of extra calorie burn that you don't actually have to 'make time' for because you are already there.

I try to always look at a menu online before I go to a restaurant. That way I won't be pressured or hurried to pick out what I want. It works out better for me.

Baaah so frustrating! Don’t let it get you down. Just focus on the basics, water, sleep, protein, and the most basic exercise-walking and avoiding the inflammatory things. Set actual goals like 150g protein, 70 oz of water, 15 minutes walking. Track every single day. There’s a book called “tiny habits” that’s super interesting about how we can finally make lasting changes. Can find a summary or a video on it. It’s extremely helpful, that along with the book “ miracle morning” doing the things you don’t want to FIRST lol it works!

Salad looked great! Protein is the KEY ingredient here! Next time throw in some eggs for more oompf. Get your steps in, fill up on water instead of always snacking and youll lose weight in no time

Sorry to keep commenting, but I actually finally finished the video. You could have ordered that cheesesteak on a salad. Subbed out the fries with a vegetable? You absolutely can order a meal and request it a different way. I've never had an issue with that. You don't have to do without. You can modify things, if possible.

Focus on losing the 3.4 lbs first - whether it takes a week or two. That’ll take you out of the ‘20s and into the teens. 319. Then your next focus is losing the 9 lbs. If you do it in increments, it’ll be less overwhelming. Good luck. 🍀

35:10 I always look at the menu now before going in, but socialization makes this really difficult. It adds to so much awkwardness.

Are you using anything to keep track of meal macros? How are you tracking your calories in / calories out? Also, don't step on the scale as often. Im gonna recommend using cronometer to track your in calories.

"That bagged stuff is trash. So I used it anyways." 🤣🤣🤣 This was a really good video. You have a lot of self-reflection going on here. You know why you gained this week. You aren't on plan but your still eating high fat and protein like you're keto, but you're eating carbs with it. So now you're just eating an insane amount of calories. Discipline takes over when motivation wanes. Learning discipline takes some time to learn. You're not going to be perfect. Mark, it took me 4 years to lose 40lbs and keep it off. I kept having slipups. Each time I got on track, I got a little better. It's okay to keep messing up, but you just have to keep moving forward. Consistency over perfection is going to get you to your goals. You absolutely can do this. Whether it's sticking with keto or doing something else.

I've found Cerave to be a terrific brand. Get a face wash, and moisturizer. Get a sunscreen to apply in the morning. I like Banana Boat Light as Air because it dries nice and doesn't leave a cast. Neutrogena Hydro boost is also nice. Neither of those are greasy. I get the equate Cerave because I'm cheap and it works nicely. If you want to use something that's anti-aging, Differin is a step below prescription tretinoin and it working great for anti-aging. Start off once a week and slowly increase the frequency until you are using nightly.

Lol, I threw the last of the bag out today, it was too brown! They were BOGO so I bought them, not eating my time anymore with them! Yeah you're right, consistency is key. I feel good about how I've been this week even with the snack I had at Epcot. I wanna get under 300!!

@@EpicWeightloss Oh yeah, probably not! But I don't even trust "clean" brands. They are overpriced and do a lot of greenwashing. I feel like they are all about the same when it comes down to it.

Have you thought about taking metformin? I would say if you have insulin resistance, it’s good to take until that lessens. I think if you take that, you will naturally stay away from the junk even if with friends. It won’t make sense to consume anything other than nutritional things or maybe even to fast at certain intervals. Also, consider the social consequences of consuming food. I think you mentioned it in your video. In different countries like Greece, it’s a social thing to eat healthy. I went there for 3 weeks in 2016 and loved every second. I lost 15 lbs after coming back home to USA. If you socialize here and it’s about eating, it seems more selfish at times to go out for a healthy food. Things are switching up a bit in some ways, but it’s still bad. It’s kinda weird. I think you start looking like a psychopath of a group if you talk or try to eat healthy intentionally in that group as opposed to going with the flow and eating McDonald’s or what have you. It could be a fear of letting go of social comfort that is associated with comforts of food. I learned to let that go and admittedly I’ve become somewhat of an outcast but that is by choice. Still, the whole focus on good choices that are among in the top 1% (99% of people would not make the effort to go this far with the commitment I have made to the diet) influences the choice to not associate with others as much. The issue is not so much that but the culture, because if you were out with friends in Greece, you wouldn’t experience the weight gain. I mean the average weight is like 206lbs at 5’-9” in USA. So from some game theoretical perspective, you wouldn’t fair well just going out there and focusing on being social.

I haven't thought about taking anything to assist in weight loss or to modify my appetite. I don't want to take any meds and I feel when it comes to weight I have to learn how to control my impulses. I've seen so many people get injections or surgeries just to lose weight and put it back on, meanwhile doing irreversible damage to their body. I'm not saying metformin will cause damage, I don't know anything about it but I want to do this naturally. I think when it comes to social situations people probably have my same mentality of eating something that stimulates the dopamine when going out. Most people don't want to feel forced into going somewhere where they can't fulfill that craving.
