As a reenactor I appreciate all the films you make. This one, however, sends chills down my spine. A true step above all the others you have done. If you can find more ways to do what you did here.... id have no choice but to watch it. A friend of mine is in this video who died a few years after this was filmed in a motorcycle accident. Was watching it a few months ago, and seeing him again even jf in a youtube video, was special. Thanks.

if you notice..... the Germans move in groups, retreating and advancing as one.... the Americans just run around and do their own thing. which is why they lose at tacticals.

I must say this video is absolutely beautiful. I was there, part of the 90th Infantry division, the Tough Ombres. This is one of the greatest WWII events around, people fly in from all over for this one event and this coming year I'll be one of them. Cant wait to see everyone again.

Most units do not require you to speak in German to take part, though they often will teach common phrases and orders in German for a person to yell out mid battle and such.

@theawesomegamer12 you purchase your own gear. you have to be 16 min. you can live anywhere, you are part of one unit. where that unit goes so do you. I live in NC but reenacted at Lowell and Rockford plenty of times, it's where I started. I now have a unit in NC just google wwii reenactment units, you'll find one close to you.

@gruntythe1andonly It depends on the organization running the event, but I think this year it was 16 to participate in a public battle, and 18 to operate a weapon. Being 16 myself, I just hungout in the halftrack with a bunch of farbs, and then jumped out at the end to surrender. There are some organizations that allow people under 16, but at that point you dont participate in public battles, and you are pretty much just building your impression and learning a lot.

Good stuff guys! Would love to see more but would prefer to do it in person. It has to cost quite a bit to outfit a man for this. Besides the gun, the uniform, boots and equipment probably cost a grand or twice as much as a basic infantry rifle. Loved the "Germans" on horseback too! That was cool.

MomanSLM it’s not as expensive as you think. Depends on what you want to “be” and if you want everything original or replica. Also depends on connections etc. There are a few known stores you can buy these clothes at for not a ridiculous price. Or you can ask around where you live. Always amazing to see what some people have and didn’t even know was “important” and surely interesting. It also depends on wether you are a female or male and which country.

And I would be in the heer, (cause i have dark brown hair and eyes) tho i want to be in the SS if i could:/ that would be so cool....but IT IS SO EXPENSIVE!! All the supplies and the clothing and the gun and the ammo, well it seems expensive to me anyway..I am only 17 though:P and I have a question...how do u wash ur uniforms? Like if u get a grass stain on it or somthing.

Yeah the Germans had men with different colured hair and eyes, you didnt have to be blonde haired and blue eyed, if you were that just meant you were a true aryan. I know you could have gotten into the Heer but idk about the SS. and please, join up! I'm a german reenactor and it's awesome!

@naddaclue1 The battles in the midwest like this (I'm in here somewhere) do not have referees. Instead we have a general sense of choreography and you try your best to meet it. For example we knew the Germans were going to come up our ass and overtake all the allies. However, we do have tacticals throughout the year with referees and the such but those are not open to the public. Mainly because you wouldn't see much when we are actually out using tactics and trying to not get hit.

it all depends on the reenacting society and the rules it has. some are 15, some are 16. the society im with is 16 can participate but cannot carry any weapons. 18 is the age to carry weapons for most reenacting societies

It depends on age and uniforms I believe some will give uniforms or talk about where to give them. The age is something depending on the group you can be 13/14 or younger, 16 you can go on a battlefield but I heard most be followed by an adult and 18 to operate a weapon
