Their friendship is evident, and their classical training shows. The fact that the setting is at a metal concert shows how receptive metal fans are to all genres of music. I keep coming back to this song and concert over and over. Love you reaction and obvious appreciation for Floor and Simone.

Floor and Simone had the same vocal coach for a time. Back in the pre-Nightwish days, Floor was on tour and slept at Simone's place - I think the description was "crashed on the floor"... Good friends and AWESOME singers and people. Simone's humour is intelligent, dry, quick and, sometimes, she knows THE dirtiest jokes! Love Floor's acknowledgement of the conductor at the end. Two angels - can sing to me anytime!

It was just sublime wasn’t it? The big thing to think about is this was a Metal concert, they were totally silent until the end, then the response was rapturous! Floor is a great mix with Simone, Floor’s voice is richer so she sings Alto with Simone taking the Soprano part it’s a mixture made in heaven! I would love to hear them sing the Flowers duet, I’m sure it would be amazing too! I guessed you would enjoy this when I saw what the reaction was to, not far wrong was I 😂? 🌹

I just found this reaction. Thank you for checking it out. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I know of is Giovanni Pergolesi’s 1735 masterpiece, "Stabat Mater”, based on a 13th Century sacral hymn about Mary mourning the crucifixion. “Stabat Mater Dolorosa” is the first and best known movement of that piece. This is my favorite version. The piece is written for soprano and contralto. Floor Jansen, who normally performs in the soprano range, takes the contralto line here, without any loss of power or clarity. They did this in the middle of a thunderous show by Simone Simons' symphonic rock band Epica. I love how they reduce a stadium full of amped up metalheads to stunned silence.
@zbygniewprlwytzkofsky6614 Жыл бұрын
“Stabat Mater” are the first words of that medieval hymn: “stabat mater dolorosa juxta crucem dunc pendebat filius”: ”the grieving mother was standing by the cross while her son was hanging (crucified)” It was set to music by a young Giovanni Pergolesi in 1736 on his deathbed at the age of 26😢

@Brodricktucker Жыл бұрын
Hi, Jenne as you said you know, when the Christian hymn was first written and what Stabat Mater dolorosa means. This cover is of one of the more famous Sacred music. Stabat Mata dolorosa is the 1st movement of a 12 movement composition. played around Easter. Was composed by Giovanini Battista Pergolesi, in 1736. he wrote it in his final weeks of his life, as he had Tuberculosis, of which it is said that he died within 24 hours of completing it. When ever I hear this or the (as some would say) more Classical version I always have thoughts on, how much, Pergolesi must have suffered I feel I can hear it in the singing and music. It's always nice to hear other people appreciate it. Thank you. Great Reaction.

@@KoalityReactions Hello! Can you please do Epica more often? This is not a band for 2-3 reactions, seriously! 🙂 They are currently the peak of symphonic metal. No one can touch them. Their music is very diverse, ranging from really heavy (which you haven't heard yet), to more mainstream-friendly to wonderful ballads and acoustic versions of their metal songs (which you haven't heard either). Would you like to do a "double reaction"? Reacting to their metal song and then to acoustic version of the same song in just one reaction video? A great example of this would be: EPICA - Storm the Sorrow (Official video) EPICA - Storm the Sorrow (acoustic version) Pinkpop 2014
@cancelled_user Жыл бұрын
@KoalityReactions And for something more spectacular, one of their greatest masterpieces that very few people react to: EPICA - Serenade of Self-Destruction (lyrics) - please find the lyric video uploaded by "Rock" This song has everything. It has heavy sections with some great guitar work and drums, but also beautiful piano and Simone's angelic vocals, it has some Middle-Eastern vibes, it's quite progressive, though the chorus is repeated 3x. Speaking of the chorus, it feels like ascending to heaven. Really, it's melody and Simone's soprano are just gorgeous. She sounds like a goddess, and btw, she also wrote lyrics for this song. Simone said back in 2012 that this was her most favourite song to sing because she shows all her vocal abilities in it. She sings low, she sings high, chest voice, operatic voice. It's the same album as "Storm the Sorrow". This is really a top-notch musical composition. You won't find anything like this in the whole symphonic metal.

Floor finished the Rockacademy, but she really wanted a challange, vocally. Floor got years of lessons of one of the best teachers in classical singing (opera and theatre) Here she met Simone (also Dutch as is Epica) and they becae best friends and roommates during ther study. They still are very close despite some members from her first band After Forever wanted different things and 2 went to form Epica. Floor is also still close with them. We have many many awesome metal female singers in Holland. Floor, Simone, Sharon from Within Temptation (Dutch) Marcello and Anneke. They all have beatiful voices. Floors vocal range is bigger than Simone's. Lower and higher. That's wht Floor took the Alt part.

Beautifully sung by both Floor and Simone. Since you like Floor, Classical and Strings, I suggest listening to Floor together with Red Limo String Quartet (RLSQ) - "Energize Me". The original is from her time with After Forever, but now in a completely different setting and yet completely recognizable. (And this for an audience that normally only listens to classical music. Can they surprise them and convince them that there is more than...? Watch: Floor Jansen & RLSQ - Energize Me [Live @ Podium: Uitmarkt, 2009] kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6u6Yp16dtlpb7Msi=dVhXpDRZR-FrlMLy
