Floor jansen is, in my opinion (and now that Tarja is no longer in the scene) the best female voice in the metal world! she has it all! even the presence and pronounce that tarja never had! Simone, on the other hand, has been evolving since the phatom agony and has a very special voice. I do adore them both!

That's true. Most people comment on Simone commenting on her physical attributes, where as the other bandmembers get 'proper' compliments, about their creativity, writing skill, etc.

Though it is kind of sad that Simone does not sing in tune live... Really the quality of music is the reason I am into Epica... When all the others are rocking out and playing their instruments to the best of their abilities, Simone seems to be focusing on being a spectacle and not on the music.

Mark has it the hardest having to play guitar and growl at the same time! That's probably why he growls all on the downbeats live instead of on the album where there is some rhythmic excitement.

great performance! I sincerely believe that is better not to make so many moves 'couse it could alter the quality of voice. Simone its just doing her thing and she rocks on it! how can you say that ? Floor didnt had experience when she recorded PRISON OF DESIRE and you can hear her voice was still POWERFUL at that time way better than the rest and imagine now FLOOR she improved way more aswell....

I really don't get why so many people think that her voice has become worse over the years. In fact, I believe she sings better than ever. I saw them live some months ago and her voice was perfect, she was very polite as well. I agree about the rest though.. (most of it)

I think that some fans think they own their favorite singers/bands and forget that they are HUMAN just like us, meaning they have their good and bad days and that some of them might not be the type that likes interacting with people they don't know (I know I'm like that). I've never met Simone, but I know she has a fb, blog, etc. to keep fans up-to-date. But, I guess, for some people, it's never enough and would rather negatively judge someone they barely know. Also, I still like her voice.

I agree. For breathing techniques, range, clarity and power in their voices, Simone's got Amy Lee beaten - but Simone in turn is completely obliterated by Floor Jansen, of After Forever.

I'm honestly surprised people criticise Mark Jansen's death grunt. As a rule I hate death-grunting, but I think Mark is one of the best out there. He can do amazing things with it! As the saying goes, there are some death-grunters who can't scream for shit. As for having death grunting in Epica, I think that makes it even more beautiful: it establishes Mark as a symbol of 'Darkness' and Simone as 'Light'. It's what makes Simone's pure voice even more striking.

Look, she's not singing La Traviata, so don't pretend her to be perfect. She's a metal singer and I think she has a great voice. She can do things with her voice that many classical singers can only dream of. If you're jealous cause you're not as famous as her, that's your thing, but she does sing well, like it or not.

there can be no comparison between Epica and Evanescence!!!! even though I listen to Evanescence, Epica is way more powerful not only concerning Simone's voice (which level Amy Lee will never achive), but the obvious high quality of the songs and the musicians!!!!

I think she still sounds amazing live. And if she doesn't want to hang out with the fans, so what? Just because someone is well-known doesn't mean they have to spend time with strangers. Not everyone enjoys hanging out with people they don't know, especially if those people are constantly fawning over you and wanting your attention.
