I couldn’t agree more. This is MY genre, and it’s a genre I can do WELL! However, I have auditioned twice now, several years apart, and they have said the same thing; “We’re just not ready for a metal artist. Maybe next year.” Honestly, i think it’s harder to be able to do Metal, and do it well, versus pop, country, and basically anything you hear in the top 40. Because of the vocal dynamics, and being able to do it WITHOUT damaging your chords, it takes a lot of discipline.

It's easy to like the melodic songs, but It's the growling and screaming that shows body control. I'm a die-hard Metal fan since over 30 years, and I've been educated in classical singing.....using your head in this case is less complicated than using your throat. Growling is art.

the taylor swift take actually fit the song quite well too. i guess in North America, there are just so many popular styles competing whereas the other countries still have respect for rock. Some of the more hardcore stuff takes a bit of getting used to and if you pic something pure hardcore then folks might not understand the work whereas the songs that mix up more traditional vocals with it would/should have a better chance maybe. That Lamb of God performance might be the perfect gateway.
