I continuously ask myself how the orchestra must feel to play with such kind of a band and with this kind of audience :D

+Zeraphime1990 As a member of a choir, i think it must feel epic! Singing along a orchestra is already a beauty of an experience, but to sing along a band like Epica, oh what a dream that is... (dazzling away in a dream world, or could this be reality? ;) )

+Zeraphime1990 Mark said that they thought they would be like "oh, I have to play for this boring band" but in fact they really liked the band and went to talk to him about the music, saying they really liked it. That's why this is the same Orchestra from The Classical Conspiracy.

I just listened to the studio version for the first time in about 10 years. Simone's singing WAY better in this version. For example, the note that she holds for about 10 seconds here (starting at 5:58) isn't even there on the studio version.

it was too fucking funny live, I don't think everything has to be judged as they were publishing a definitive version of something in a concept album. Oh well, if you tell me you don't like uptempo even in songs written to sound like that, I get your point, though. I mean, if something sounds bad to you, it's taste and there's no discussion to be done

Hey, little late, but still :D I want to see them live, and I have the choice of classic floor standing or chair tribune at the side. I would prefer to stand on the floor to feel the energy etc. But I´m little bit worried, that I´m not that tall, I wont see much. Is it really a problem or the raised stage eliminates this?

One night I was listening this song and driving in the middle of the night through a wild route in the Andean mountains, I had opened the window, and in a curve I have to drastically reduce the speed, and suddenly from the sky appears a beautiful giant owl that catch a big mouse in front of me, and the owl watched me to my eyes, I feel the cold steel of that eyes in my soul!!! this was a very beautiful and strong experience for me… I always remember this magic moment of my life every time when I am listening this beautiful song.

There's nothing like being there, but they captured it so well on video that it's like you don't just have the best seats in the house, you have EVERY seat in the house. And you don't have to stand for 3 hours, or have people screaming in your ear, or worry about being killed by the pyro. Seriously, I bet they had the audience sign insurance waivers before they let them in.

I can't see you, I can't hear you Do you still exist? I can't feel you, I can't touch you, Do you exist? The Phantom Agony I can't taste you, I can't think of you, Do we exist at all? (II. Between hope and despair) The future doesn't pass And the past won't overtake the present All that remains is an obsolete illusion We are afraid of all the things that could not be A phantom agony Do we dream at night Or do we share the same old fantasy? I am a silhouette of the person wandering in my dreams We are afraid of all the things that could not be A phantom agony Tears of unprecedented beauty Reveal the truth of existence We're all sadists The age-old development of consciousness Drives us away from the essence of life We meditate too much, So that our instincts will fade away They fade away What's the point of life And what's the meaning if we all die in the end? Does it make sense to learn or do we forget everything? We are afraid of all the things that could not be A phantom agony Tears of unprecedented beauty Reveal the truth of existence We're all pessimists The age-old development of consciousness Drives us away from the essence of life We meditate too much, So that our instincts will fade away They fade away Teach me how to see and free the disbelief in me What we get is what we see, the Phantom Agony A te spiritus noster devoratur Et nostra anima capitur (III. Nevermore) The lucidity of my mind has been revealde in new dreams I am able to travel where my heart goes In search of self-realisation This is the way to escape from our agitation And develop ourselves Use your illusion and enter my dream...

Anyone actually enjoy the music or is this about how much we can criticize the lead vocalist? It seems to be endemic with symphonic metal fans. Lighten up. They sound tight. Even if the lights aren't perfect, I have to say that this may be the best mix Epica has ever had. Wow... so powerful. And Simone (in my admittedly not definitive opinion) sounds great. Also I'd say that the only reason the lights are an issue is because Epica has such a great, fun stage presence and it would've been awesome to see that better documented.. for most bands it wouldn't have mattered at all lol

This used to be the hall where gigantic press machines made thousands of plastic casings for the Philips radio's, televisions, razors and other appliances every day. Nowadays it's used as a concert hall.

I don't get how people say that she sounds bad live. I mean sure, there are moments when she's just a little bit flat or off pitch, but that happens when you sing live sometimes lol

Seriously people? You're going to bash her singing ability? She's amazing. Just because she has some issues live, doesn't mean she's a terrible singer. I love her and I always will. You try to go on stage and do what she does.

I think many people hate against her because she doesn't sound anymore like the pre 2008 era (arround that year Simones Voice changed so much) and well voices change after a while. Tarja also sounds nothing like before and all love her and Simone still hits the notes and such just different than before.

I LOVED the show but 2 important things to note : The lighting engineer was very bad, too much white flash, we are half of the time blinded and we can't see the band members. But there is a second thing that some of you maybe noticed, the jerky images that is a major problem. If you can't see it clearly, just watch the ending (Outrospect) and you will see all the shakings. I got the Blu-Ray edition.
