It's not often that a band as good as Epica comes along. They have the right mix of everything in their music. The power of the metal (not so much on this song as others), the textures of the piano and orchestra, the choral voices, and then top it all of with Simone's absolutely awesome voice (And she's a stunningly beautiful lady).. it's just AWESOME

First time I listen to this song, it is so beautiful that I am lacking in words to describe it. They have soared to musical heights of the kind that, among rock and metal bands, only Genesis at best has reached. It is obvious that them all love classical music and particularly aria. The sophistication of their harmonic progressions and arrangements is impressive. Simone Simons is not only a top singer, but she sings with one such a sweetness that makes me shear tears of emotion.

wikipedia isn`t a trustworthy source.. and many singers get classified wrong.. me too:) my teacher was also told she is a mezzo but when she got to sing into the opera hall (where Fach matters!) she couldn`t be heard, because she could resonate only in higher repetoire, mainly coloratura roles. Simone definitely doesn`t even sound close to an operatic mezzo soprano so that`s why I say she is a lyric soprano who sings as low as a mezzo (with microphone).

man.. i don`t know why they all say that she`s a mezzo.. my voice has the same "darkness" and i`m a very high lyric soprano :/ after G5 the voice brightens a lot but that is because of youth & not that well supported- breathing. I would vouch for soprano since her range is more that of a soprano and the timbre is not dark enough as a mezzo would sound.

A pesar de que es Metal la gente es igual de tonta que los demás géneros... sólo se fijan en el vocalista o en el guitarrista, por eso si les pones a escuchar el instrumental se aburren -_-. Generalmente quienes sí escuchan todo alaban todo, y su oído es más agudo. Por ejemplo mi música favorita es la clásica, pero no todos son capaces de apreciar la música. En cierta forma en lo que se fijan es el límite musical que les pone su cerebro. Mejor ni te enojes, no vale la pena. Alégrate por ti :D.
