The Advance variation was named after the Game Boy Advance when a grandmaster jumbled his notes with his children's Christmas list.

@-yeme-Сағат бұрын
well, not many people were expecting that. but if we learned anything about Ding last time round, it was that he can handle pressure
@tonyb9735Сағат бұрын
Not really, no. What we actually learned was that he can handle pressure better than Nepo, but we already knew that Nepo collapses under pressure. Nonetheless, a great start for Ding, that will have done wonders for his confidence, which will hopefully make for an exciting match. Let's not get carried away, though, this was one game and there's a long, long way to go.
@-yeme-53 минут бұрын
@@tonyb9735 yeah ok, re watch the final game and tell me that Ding didn't have balls of steel to go for the win in the first place and then pull it off.

Great to see the championship for World chess No.2 finally start.
@noidph3 минут бұрын
Saw the game live. Nb2 was brilliant, a positional masterstroke by Ding Liren! Gukesh would later say that he underestimated that move. What a thrilling start to this World Chess Championship! Applauding from the Philippines!😊🙏💕👏

I thought Gukesh used the wrong rook to protect the c-pawn. He should have played Rfc1.
@wonderingatom820358 минут бұрын
Ding played like a demi god. I am beginning to think he downplayed his form all year to spring to life. The dragon has been awoken. A 1-0 lead is not quite terminal but against a draw making specialist like Ding, Gukesh has got quite an uphill struggle.
