What if you thought everyone else was just as smart if not more so? How frustrating would that be? To constantly not understand how everyone else couldn’t see the simplicity you see so you think they must be above it all? Play dumb? That’s a life of misery, regardless of others insecurities. And dishonest to boot… Once again, everyone is always only thinking about themselves. Shameful

Picture this: You see the entire world pivoting I’m the same direction. You don’t understand. The answers seem simple yet they’re making mountains out of molehills. What would you think? “Man, all these smart people, I must be missing something” So you keep your head down and try to keep it moving; keep investigating. Do that for DECADES. Only to find out, nope! Just a rudderless ship of self-aggrandizement. Now THAT is a mindfvck of the highest order. Good thing you kept the faith and kept learning

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my life is that it is VERY hard to be successful when the people around you don’t want you to be. The opposite is also true. Be genuine and do not use your smarts to humiliate people, use it to guide them to their own successes. Most will appreciate you for this and help you when you need it

It's the social networks they formed. They don't want to take advice from the poor person. If a homeless guy cracked the Davinci code on a piece of cardboard, they would feel belittled by it. "If you're so smart how come you're not rich?", gives poor people false hope that if they go to college that they'll get somewhere in the world. And it makes rich people feel special. All these people that kiss their bum trying to get something out of them, they don't want to hear stuff like that. And also they want us to turn to them for advice, believing that we'll wind up like them so they can lead us further astray.

@@second_second_ nope, the very being you are is intelligence, imagine this , youre such a super hyper infinetely complex computing system, that you have the ability to incapacitate your own ability by believing certain words/situations/phrases like "Im gracefully intelligent and I assert myself while being level headed and good to eachother. OR Im stupid - depending on wich one and how often you repeat the desribed circumstance in your mind (imagination) the more it will come to pass in your everyday life or what we call physical reality. In other words you just believe that you are low or below normal intelligence when in reality intelligence can never be fuly captured just like anything in creation, wich means that its most likely fluid as scientists have come to understand with the breathtaking revelations of quantum physics over time. Yes, 2 seemingly paradox realities can apparently coexist in our reality meaning you can be smart as a rock, smart as a granny or smart like the infinite mind underlying all of the world we live in, I can prove this, for example you never apply the same effort twice in solving any problem or furthering any situation, even if its an atomweight and spins difference, its still different EVERY time you do ANY thing. That means that reality isnt as hard and rigid as our minds make it out to be trough our perceptual lenses, what I want u to take from this is, sart believing in yourself and your smarts, start feeling like youre respected for your opinions, that you react think and act quickly but not without some wise hesitation beforehand. You are literally the maker of your own life, of your own mind, (we are made in the image of God is what the books say) and what it means is that we are little me versions of the Godhead mind that is LITERALLY perfect, meaning if there was a limit to how much IQ we can measure this mind would blow the scale far beyond infinity(xD). And guess what my friend, YOU AND I are one with it, the reason it doent appear to be testable and true in this very moment is because we are moving on a linear time axis right now at least in lower dimensions that are more gross, and were evolving towards this infinite potential, meaning that you may think youre stupid, medium rare or a genius or anything inbetween below or above, but the absolute unshakeable everlasti9ng truth of the matter is that your intelligence is so great that no human can possible ever capture the Truth / All about it.-

One recurring thing that worked against me for as long as I remember, I cannot stand injustice and I cannot stand people being disrespectful. As hard as I try, I have to respond. It is like my instinct works against me playing dumb/underdog. It worked against me at school and at work. For example, I saw my manager treating a colleague very badly, I stepped up and told him to stop doing that. Ended up me losing my job the same day. I figured out working for myself is the way to go. Now I employ 5 people and try to be as fair as possible. Pay them way above average, am interested in them and try to let them grow. It's like I have to be on top for other people to see my good intentions. Is this familiar to someone else?

I have come to accept that I am not God, and that every human being can determine and fight for themselves…this has freed me from having to save other people, and placed the tough task of saving myself and changing my life in my own hands. The more I am paying attention to the injustices of the world, I know it means I feel less able to take care of the injustices I experience in my own life. I think there is nothing wrong with what we want to do, but we have to operate that way from positions of power. Become the boss, then change things as you see fit.

Schopenhauer’s philosophy was suited to a pre-digital society, one without the speed and permanence of today’s social media, where first impressions are preserved for life. In our world, Schopenhauer’s philosophy is proven wrong by examples from Donald Trump to Giorgia Meloni. Once someone appears as lacking self-confidence, it’s almost impossible to change that impression due its lasting stigma. Few are surprised by sudden insights, and society increasingly distrusts academic elitism. In a globally competitive job market, it’s often better to strike boldly with confidence, even if it risks appearing arrogant. To function effectively today, constant self-assurance is essential-playing dumb is not a viable strategy in the digital age.

Couldn't agree more-- the "reluctant leader" that people admire in George Washington is never happening again. Because it only functioned the first time because Washington was one of a handful of viable choices. Wealthy enough, from the right part of the country, without super vocal and polarizing viewpoints , with some military background was realistically only a group of about ten men in 1775 so... not so hard to stand out by being quietly eloquent and six inches taller than the average, even with a pretty mediocre military record . But todayv In a world of infinite choices, self-promotion is the only promotion you're going to get.

When trying and failing to establish myself at a job I've had to leave, I made some enemies. The one that damaged me the most wasn't even on my radar, he pushed me, acting as a neutral party, finding just the right timing. He played the part well, dumb as a brick, would intentionally waste his time on idiotic tasks that only a small child would entertain, but always stoic, never seemed to get riled up about anything at all, never took off his mask. Parading yourself as someone to be underestimated is a very powerful skill, I learned this lesson on my own skin, so I don't need to watch this video at all, the title is enough.

@JB-qt3wo
@JB-qt3wo Ай бұрын
The suggestion from both Schopenhauer and Lao Tzu seems to be "Try not to outshine your opponent until it is your time to strike" Less you simply engender their resentment and cause them to attack you even more forcefully than they already would have. I think people misinterpret the outshine the master quote as simply suggesting "Well I know I'm smarter than or better than the master, but I am just going to trick him into thinking he's better than me" The quote actually speaks to a concept in Zen called "beginners mind" whereby you always maintain an attitude of humility to leave open the door that someone may know something you don't, so as to allow yourself to learn and continue growing. The playing dumb tactic works well in our current culture, where merit is often punished rather than rewarded. To show that you have some innate ability or talent that may put you above your peers will encourage people to put you at a disadvantage, so as to bring about "equitable" outcomes. Millennials have been taught this from a young age. That it isn't fair for someone else to win, and someone else to lose, especially if that win is due to something such as privileged status or innate intelligence. In the 80's through the early 00's, if you were obviously smarter, better looking, more charismatic, and socially better adapted than your peers, you were rewarded handsomely, today it is a different story. If you are good looking, smart, charismatic, it is only because you are unfairly privileged, entitled, arrogant, undeserving, lucky, and probably racist. Therefore, many smart people I know who work for mid-large sized organizations have successfully implemented strategic incompetence, which flies directly in the face of Jordan Peterson's obsession with competence as the only thing that makes you valuable. I believe he seriously overlooks the implications of woke "equity" culture on corporate hierarchies, and downplays the importance of strategy. One Should not be unfamiliar with strategy.

The alternative is to actually be humble and be willing to be strong and if you lose, at least you didnt lie, steal, or feign weakness to get ahead. The quote at 1:05 is intriguing. Schopenhauer assumes that there is in fact an opponent. Same thing the with Lao tzu quote after. There is a fundamental presupposition here that there is some kind of battle, war, conflict intrinsic to all interactions. Is this a wise or valid assumption? If not how dramatically does it change our worldview and the limited outcomes possible due to assuming everyone is our enemy? Moreover, how is “playing dumb” not a kind of deception, manipulation, and narcissism? It certainly isn't humility. What if you were just yourself and because yourself is humble, full of integrity, honest, kind, compassionate, full of joy and peace and was genuine, authentic and winsome? In this scenario there would be no victim or opponent, no loser, no battle no deception for the sake of self advancement.

In considering your question I look to the natural world of the animal kingdom. I don’t see any creatures able to survive without strategy by simply being themselves and trusting it will work out. To say this will be enough for humans is to say there is a fundamental difference between animals and man and man is under a different and far more favorable set of pressures to adapt. If you’re talking about transcendence and simply not participating in competition then yes, humans have the luxury of not really competing and still being able to survive.
