Rapport is one of my favourite players, in a similar mould to Dubov and Firouzja, and even Niemann on his day (boo, hiss). Perhaps no coincidence that Rapport and Dubov have both been recruited by Magnus in the past for his WC preparations, Magnus obviously sees something in their play that he feels he lacks himself.

Richard Rapport is in my oppinion one of the most creative players in modern Chess. However his skill varies strongly depending on his mood during the day. I watched quite a few of his tournamebts online since the Superbet Romania 2023. On a good day he could win a title match against every top player, but on a bad day he tends to blunder alot. If he gets more consistent, i think he has the potential to become champion someday

the issue with e5 is NOT the king nonsense you said, the issue is the permanent d pawn isolani black gets when he is not even that ahead in development. a permanent weakness for only slight activity is rarely a good idea, with white you can sometimes get away with it because in those lines you get fast piece activity to land the isolani, with black its dangerous.

You should struggle (use more time) when you try to play against a prevailing strategy like castling early, otherwise the strategy would have been discarded, which is not (yet) the case. There was also a positional struggle towards the end, but OVERWHELMED seems to be a more suitable word than DESTROYED ;) Really a natural and expected outcome when you don't castle when you should imo
