Just got my cop of the second volume of Alvar Mayor. I am so thankful they are doing these translations. I only wish they were more popular (so the stufd stays in print haha). Thanks for nringing some attention to this amazing publisher

Sergio Bonelli Editore still exists and stories of some of the most popular heroes from that time are still published, today there are also some newer Bonelli heroes like Nathan Never, Dylan Dog, Dragonero, etc. I'm from Croatia and Bonelli comics are very popular there, like and in other Balkan countries. Enjoy reading these comics :) P.S. 10:13 This is Gallieno Ferri, the art creator of Zagor

I've got a half-dozen of their hardcovers ("Signature Edition") and I haven't had any issues with them. They fulfill the need for the classic pulp-adventures: Tex for standard cowboy stories, and Zagor for....whatever you want to call the genre that includes Indiana Jones. So far, the best book has been Zagor: The Lost World, which didn't seem to be featured on the video...

@@fortcastellan1730 no I haven't ordered that one yet. I am in between homes now. But I will put it at the top of my wish list!

Yeah, cool. One fact: Zagor hasn't magic powers, he is just in a good shape and has fight skills. 😊

Ah ok. Thank you. I ordered "Zagor Shadow of The Vampire" as an add-on in the latest "Tex - Captain Jack" Kickstarter campaign. I have only read "Zagor: The Alien Saga" so far so I am still learning about these great characters.

If you are passionate about science fiction, a very interesting character is Nathan Never. In the 90s it was one of the best sellers together with Dylan Dog. Furthermore, the first 50 covers were designed by the master Claudio Castellini.

Actually, this Tex "In the land of the Seminoles" is rather new stuff and it's like a "sub edition" within Tex Willer (he's got many other editions beside the monthly stories, like maxi, almanah, special/gigante, magazine ...) that tells a story of his youth so to speak, so about the times when he wasn't a ranger yet but a renegade falsely accused and it these stories came out couple years ago. Tex Willer is almost an institution in Italy, he's going on since 1948 and I heard a saying that Italians are proud on three things: pizza, Ferrari and Tex Willer. :) Not sure how much of this is still true, younger readers are mostly into manga these days, but his sales are still high in Italy (some +200k copies of just monthly edition every month) but in past decades they were tremendous.

I am 49 years old and had never heard of these comics until maybe 2 years ago. The only Italian comic I was really aware of is Dylan Dog and that was only because of an obscure movie called "Cemetery Man" that I really like.
@klemenp.545310 ай бұрын
@@dadandRiyOh yeah, Dellamorte Dellamore or Cemetery Man is much much better film than what came out couple years ago under the name of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. Also Dellamorte Dellamore is based on one DD episode, plus Rupert Everett looks more like DD. 45yo over here and we were lucky that in ex-Yu we had tons of Bonelli comics (I live in Slovenia) a top of French, Spanish and ofc American comics/graphic novels. I know this guy that runs Epicenter Comics (also from ex-Yu) and he did tremendous job on bringing at least some of Bonelli comics to the States (before if was maybe couple titles, I ain't sure?). Yup, he's one man behind that label EC so his PR ain't... well, nothing similar to even just medium based publishers not to mention all the big names. I think US audience would like some of Bonelli characters but don't see happening that whole franchise would kick off (Tex Willer is currently at +750 issues in Italy - the main edition), but some hand picked episodes like EC is doing, that would go. Perhaps some of top episodes or those more artistic. In terms of western I'd say Ken Parker is the best comic there is (Tex is more black and white, for all readers, stuff is very picky about his stories and that the new script writters wouldn't change him too much etc.) as he also ages as the story progress, also the story is not separated in individual episodes but they are connected more or less. Also authors (Berardi, great screscreenwriter and Milazzo amazing artist) put their beliefs into Ken Parker, moral ground etc., and character is based on Robert Redford looks from Jeremiah Johnson movie. Milazzo can tell so much in his art, even w/out the words. I guess it's funny to compare all the great comic markets around the world and how they "operate", how their comics look like (size, pages, styles as they are different - US monthly issues with their pages, French market with their size and pages, Bonelli with theirs, mangas ...), their approach to the reader, but all in all, a good comic or a graphic novel is (or should be) recognized around the globe. All the best to you and yours in 2024 and to many more good comics in the future. :) It seems youngsters are not so much into comics (some exceptions) and we dynosaurs are... fewer and fewer.

@@klemenp.5453 thank you! Ken Parker is Epicenter's next project. Ken Parker: The Breath and the Dream. Epicenter is advertising it as "a sort of an invitation ticket to you to join us on a ride that we have prepared..." So I am excited to give it a try.
