Moebius was fantastic at using color to convey depth information. Great video!

very nice way to study observation. making a list and see if you can spot the things with perspective youre looking for! i'll try that myself

It's also interesting seeing how different artists mix and match the strategies in the list, and how many ways there are to approach some of them. It was definitely a beneficial way to study!

What's extraordinary about Moebius' work in Airtight Garage is that at that stage he was drawing directly in ink, without any kind of sketch.

🤯 So he actually didn't grid anything out at all! I knew he did some stuff straight to ink, but had no idea it was this.

@@JRenzella He detailed his process for that work in some detail in some interviews I've read. In fact, the process was almost non-existent. The story was completely improvised, without a script. And all the drawings were done directly in ink. A true master at work.

:Major Grubert is not positioned correctly for his size. He is too close to the horse to be that proportion. Move him up to put him farther back, or draw him a bit larger.

He does look a little short now that you mention it... I took a shot at checking his height against the horseman, and he does look a little on the small side, though maybe in the range of ok? shorturl.at/Eb6xf Please anyone feel free to check my math, this is my best guess: I straightened up the horseman, and stood him halfway between the horse's feet. Then I extended a line between Grubert's feet and the top of his head from where they converge on the horizon line, and copy/pasted him within those parameters on the same line as the horseman. I checked my measurement by measuring how many heads he is from the horizon line, and it's roughly accurate. Good eye, and thanks for your contribution!

He is not close to the horse. Look again and this time without criticism. Put your ego out and take a new look.
