i once wanted to become a muslim. i asked my muslim friends to help me, which they all did. after so many of my questions answered, i was confident enough to attend a local mosque for friday prayer. a few days before i asked the many who helped me my last question: _"when i attend the mosque, i may be asked what i am, a sunni or shia, what do i answer?"_ this question ignited all who helped me to argue with such hatred that shocked me to the point where i lost faith in islam. i didnt know there was divison, to the point where i veered for some time until i returned to announce which side i was to choose. i chose neither sunni or shia, i am a muslim.

@LebanonSam1969 Жыл бұрын
@@moinejaz2804 Dear Brother, I understand your concerns about disrespectful behavior and spreading fitna (discord) among the Muslim community. It is essential to me to promote unity, mutual respect, and understanding among Muslims, regardless of our differences. Insulting or disrespecting the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet Muhammad) is indeed inappropriate and goes against the teachings of Islam. The Sahaba hold a special place in Islamic history, as they were close companions of the Prophet, and they played a crucial role in spreading and preserving the message of Islam. It is crucial to remember that Islam emphasizes respect for all individuals, including the Sahaba, and discourages divisive language or actions that can lead to disunity within the Muslim community. Instead of focusing on our differences, I believe that we should strive to foster an environment of compassion, tolerance, and open dialogue, so we can learn from one another and grow together as a unified ummah. I personally agree with the sentiment that we should all seek guidance from Allah, and may He guide us to love and respect the Sahaba and the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's family). By promoting unity, love, and respect within the ummah, I believe that we can work together to strengthen our faith and positively impact the world around us. May Allah guide us all and grant us the wisdom to treat one another with kindness and compassion. Ameen. Furthermore, I respect my personal beliefs and upbringing, which forbid me from associating with extremists on either side. Striving for a balanced and moderate approach is commendable, and it is essential for me to distance myself from any form of extremism that could harm the unity and cohesion of the Muslim community. I also recognize that ignorance and a lack of education can contribute to the spread of fitna and misunderstandings among Muslims. It is crucial for me as an individual and for the community to seek knowledge, engage in open discussions, and learn from authentic sources to gain a better understanding of our faith. Regarding the reliability of some hadith, I acknowledge that it is a valid scholarly viewpoint to question the historical accuracy of certain narrations. The process of hadith transmission and authentication was complex, and there is a possibility that some fabricated or unreliable hadith may have been circulated for various reasons, including political motives. Therefore, I believe it is crucial to rely on trusted scholars and reputable sources when studying and understanding the hadith literature. In addressing fitna and promoting unity, I believe that we should emphasize the teachings of Islam that encourage compassion, forgiveness, and tolerance. Engaging in respectful discussions and seeking common ground can bridge gaps and foster harmony within the Muslim ummah. By staying informed, learning from reputable sources, and rejecting extreme views, I believe that we can actively work towards a more cohesive Muslim community based on love, respect, and understanding. Let us pray for guidance and wisdom from Allah, seeking the truth in all matters and striving to build a united ummah that upholds the true values of Islam. May Allah guide us and grant us the strength to navigate the challenges we face. Ameen.

@@atrociousnonsense me personally i'm still learning about sunni vs shia brother but i think a big difference between sunnism and shi'ism besides imamate and sahaba is that shia are more critical of hadith. majority of hadith are compiled by fallible people, people who can make mistakes. however because twelver shia believe in the infallibility of the imams, if an imam is within any chain of transmission of a hadith they can be sure that it is true. so i would say shia are definitely more critical of hadith and it makes sense as they are not leaving their faith up to chance and possibility but rather what they can be sure is true and intended from allah swt. but of course one must first believe the imams are infallible to hold this belief. me personally i am learning about shi'ism, i was introduced to islam as a whole through sunnism, but some aspects of shi'ism like the critical view of hadith makes a lot of sense to me. however there are some theological arguments which can be brought up to question the imams. inshallah we all find the truth and may allah be pleased with our efforts. ameen

This was an incisive and empathic delineation of the key differences between our sunni and shia brothers/sisters. Surely the most sensible way forward is one of pragmatic tolerance, continued dialogue, and as the community of Iqraa', furthering our edification and understanding of the palpable differences and similarities between us. In times of polarization, postmodernism and anti-Muslim pogroms (both real life and virtual), we must work together in the spirit of the Most Merciful and our most merciful habib, our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and all that follow him.

Dr Yasir Qadhi has spent over a decade studying Islam and has written academic papers and given (probably) thousands of khutbahs. He used to be a 'salafi' when he was younger. But that is still considered a branch of sunni Islam. After having done more research on his own he no longer identifes with that group. As for the shia sect, with all due respect, there are far too many things that simply don't add up (in my humble opinion). Somewhat like Christianity. This is what any unbiased person would conclude. But I sincerely ask Allah to guide you with goodness,

If you have studied theology you still know much. Let's me give you the stance of a very lenient pro unity shia cleric, sheikh Arif says there no doubt that Umar came and threatened the door of Fatimah. Virtually all shia believe this even those who don't believe in the attack. Yassir Qadhi denied it in their sources now that true at all. He made plenty of other biased comments. I really don't know what you were watching. I am all for unity but let at be honest not totally suck up to anyone who gone from calling shia kaffirs to actually having some tolerences. Yes it good thing but he still takes pot shots on the shia view and is clearly biased. Comments like yours will deceive the shia who really don't know anything. They will believet everything Yassir Qadhi said was true. Well it wasn't.
@Shia.Ahlulbayt3 жыл бұрын
35:57 Here little example of his subtle bias but is very misleading to those who don't know much. He portrays the shia view that all the senior sahaba conspired. We don't say that all we say it was few of them that started it at saqifah and argued it with Ansar at first. There was even fight and threats. They were quick to take bayt from many after through intimidation as they went round demanding it. Such as going to Imam Ali house and demanding it. He portraying as we have far fetched view all conspired. No not really many just remained silent like ansar, some didn't give bayt like Ammar, Salaman, Abu Dhar, Miqdad, Billa, ibn Abbas, Zubayr, Abbas, Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, Malik ibn Nuwayrah who was killed etc, many had enmity against Imam Ali because they lost family in battles of badr, uhud etc so they were not going to defend Imam Ali right. It not as he making he giving the shia view incorrectly now if that just his bias or his lack of knowledge of shia it is not right either way. But I don't understand why you theology expert can't see his bias. I am not going back to pick all his biased ways he portrayed it but there are more no doubt even in the comments you can see.

@@lady7 There are a majority of Hadith in all Sunni books of Hadith that contradict each other. Many Sunni Hadith agree about Shia beliefs. Because of Shaitan, the Sunni's have subconsciously forgot about them "...It was none but Satan who made me forget..."(18:63) Shaytan causes forgetfulness. Don't forget that Aisha sinned against Allah when she disobeyed a direct Quranic command "And stay in your houses and do not display your finery like the displaying of the ignorance of yore" as she rode into the Battle of the Camel.(33:33) Logic and common sense say that the Shia's are correct in all their belief. I am a Christian and have listened to this lengthy discussion to be more enlightened on this subject. I enjoin you not just to preach pragmatic tolerance of other Islamic sects but pragmatic tolerance of all human beings and their faiths. You said that the Quran recognizes the diversity of peoples and nationalities, doesn't it recognize the diversity of faith? I truly appreciate your call for intolerance of clerics promoting hatred. They are the supporters of those causing so much pain, killings and afflictions all over the world. This face of Islam is worrisome and undesirable for humanity.

I am a convert to Muslim and and also am in agreement with you totally that these differences in the beliefs must not lead to a conflict of violence amongst our Muslim brothers & sisters. Both groups must instead join hands and make good deeds for mankind as manifested for our Allah Supahanahuwataalah.

You have given me clarity on this vital issue of my belief. My husband was a Sunnie Muslim,before returning to ALLAH, and that's all I know. Fortunately, KZbin has been very good in presenting me, in the beginning of my quest for knowledge, with Scholars of Sunni perspective. I have listened to two other teachers on this matter, Alhumdulilah, you have given me detailed information that wasn't confusing as the former lessons I've endured. JazkAllah Khair for presenting your lesson in an elementary level. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray." - last sermon of prophet Muhammad saws/ . I start with the name of Allah. . O Allah, we ask you for peace and blessings upon our prophet Muhammad. . Most Muslims think tauheed is saying ‘no God but Allah’, and not bowing to anyone besides Allah. But tauheed concerns the heart more than it does the body. . ‘There is no God but Allah’ is a sum of no and yes. Without saying no to everything besides Allah, you cannot reach Allah. . The Quran says on the first page - You alone we worship, and from You alone, we seek help. . ‘you alone’ means sole, reserved, and exclusive to Allah. . Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (may Allah’s mercy be upon him) says, ‘Beg of Him and do not beg of anyone besides Him. Ask Him for help and do not seek help from anyone besides Him. Trust in Him and do not trust in anyone besides Him.' - 47th discourse in the book, Al Fathah Ar Rabbani, page 281. . To understand Tauheed, you must also know what shirk is, as they are both opposites. . Worship belongs to Allah alone. When you give a share of it to anyone else, you create a partner with Allah. People don’t know that dua is worship and its peak. . Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (may Allah have mercy on him) says in his book, 'shirk can be outer or inner. Outer is the worship of idols, while the inner is to trust creatures and regard them as the source of harm and benefit.' - Al-Fath Ar-Rabbani, 34th discourse, page 212 . Shirk happens when you show over-reliance on your material possessions and forget that everything is in the hands of Allah. See Sura Kahf verses 32 and 42. . Shirk happens when you obey your desires and disobey Allah. You become so engrossed in obeying your desires that Islam takes a backseat. See Quran chapter 45 verse 23; (‘Have you seen him who has taken his desires as his god’) . Islam means submission to the will of God. . Shirk also means to change the place of Allah. When you love anyone other than Allah, and you think that someone other than Allah can help or harm you, you change His place. This is what the Christians do and what some Muslims do. ‘Shirk’ is an unpardonable sin in Islam. . A common type of Shirk is also to call or make dua or to seek help from other than Allah. . "The Quran says on the first page. - ‘You alone we worship, and from You alone, we seek help.' . Hadith Qudsi 8 says that when a worshipper says this verse, He (Allah) says: 'This is between Me and My slave, and My slave shall have what he has asked for.' . Isn't this verse proof that a person gets everything directly from Allah? Why pin hopes on anyone other than Allah? . Muslims must take this message to everyone they know. . Tauheed is the first step in Islam and is the basis of every good.

Actually this is very objective and the most 'mature' view of the differences between Sunni and Shia I've ever seen. Most of the differences between Shia and Sunni today are because of differing historical accounts of the same events. None of us can be 100% sure of what actually happened at the early ages of Islam. To make an informed opinion on this matter one has to have a good knowledge and read in depth and without bias into both sources. This is very difficult and challenging for most people, the majority simply follow what is taught to them by their parents and preached at their communities. Thank you brother. May Allah have mercy on all of us.

Didnt they ran and left prophet in the midst of battle Uhud. Only person who was with prophet and didn't left his side was imam Ali(a.s). Wasnt Aisha involved in a battle whose resolution was pointless and lead to 1000 of casualties in a battle against Imam Ali(a.s). Even sunni scholar says that she made a mistake. Do u think of her as Siddiqa still. Umar set fire to the doorstep of prophet muhammed daughter after prophet passings. This attack killed her unborn child in her womb. Suffering with this injuries she went to the court to get her right of Fidak. And used to goto people houses to remind the true successor of prophet. Her final wishes was to not let her enemies come to her burial. It was documented in history that Abubakr and Aisha was not present. The same daughter, whenever prophet saw her daughter he used to stand up for her respect and call her umm abiha mother of her father and we see hadith that says "Fatima is a part of me, whoever hurt her has hurt me". Whenever prophet used to pass close to her door, he used to recite Ayat Tatheer(Verse of purification). And in ayat Mawadath, it says "I dont ask anything from you, except love from a closest kin". When people asked who are these people, he said "Imam Ali(a.s), Janabe Fatema Zehra(s.a) and Imam Hasan, Imam Hussein(a.s)". He repeated this 3 times.
