As a PhD student in geology - albeit in Canada, the urge to quit and become a hobby farmer is strong. Jacque (and Kevin) have achieved the dream.
@jwukulele Жыл бұрын
Dropping out of a PhD program was subjectively a decision with long lasting “bad feelings” for me - which is why I appreciate Chris sharing his decision that led to where he is. But objectively, dropping out is also the best (& least worst) decision I’ve made. Friends who have finished doctorates, including one in physical geography (climatology) who ultimately succeeded financially had to play the long game in academia & politics - not a game I’d want to invest so much of my mental & emotional energy in if I could avoid it…. as it seems so low on ROI in terms of true happiness.

I honestly was so surprised that Kevin said so many people asked if they were a couple - mainly because it doesn’t matter and it’s none of our business. Oh yeah, and being a couple also has nothing to do with gardening.
@aloeme2 жыл бұрын
"People don’t think that about women who are close friends", they do. I found out in 2019 that the staff at our campus cafe thought for years that my friend and I were a couple because we went there every day to get coffee. We hung out all the time because we used to study the same thing (& had all the same classes) and lived on campus too so we'd study together. Never even crossed our minds that anyone could think we were more than friends.

Both my grandfathers were excellent veggie patch gardeners as is my dad, my brother has not just a green thumb but an entire arm. Lots of guys here in Australia from the older generation were massive gardeners. I didn't even realise people thought it was weird. The garden helps all of my family relax and helps ease anxiety. Love watching these videos, keep up the good work.

Making gardening funny is what its all about :) Love how different you guys are, kevin is so like my dad, and Jacque is so like me, and those different garden outlooks help us all grow and learn. I have a bachelors in fashion design with a focus on pattern drafting/design; I worked one year in my field and went "nope". I couldn't understand the need for everyone to be so cut throat, working excessive hours, and frankly being the biggest drama queens ever. It's just a sewing pattern, chill. I'm currently sitting at home recovering from an illness while working on my one garden bed my apartment comes with (that sat fallow covered in weeds for at least 3 years) with way more knowledge than I had last month from watching this channel. I'm looking forward to expanding my garden with containers as the season goes on. :)

I also enjoy your advice (both) some things work here in Texas and some don't, I love how Y'all are always telling us to do what works... on the Regenerate Gardening, there are several large, medium and small farms that are using this and have made a massive difference in just one season, we are using this in 5 of our raised beds and so far have been more successful that we expected... again it's all about your soil health. As we are a small garden we are willing to try new things. Blessings to y'all

as far as the more pets question: You should totally get some freshwater shrimp or crayfish or similar for the Epic Pond! They'll help with the issue of detritus collecting in the rocks from the plants, probably be a bit of food for the koi, attract even more wildlife, and if they grow out of control possibly some food? Unless you're allergic to shellfish, of course. And you'd have to choose a freshwater shrimp that'll make for decent eating.

We also sold to many of the top restaurants here. Long story short, the farm is no longer in business, but I have a special mint that was cross-pollinated by bees from 4 different varieties over about 30 years. I’d love to share cuttings as this mint is absolutely amazing.
