Depends on how you prepare it. Ideally you want to have it fresh and not too ripe, take out all the seeds and the sort of paper-like tissue around the seeds (that's the most bitter), and the cook it the way you like it. Some people like it super well cooked, others like it just lightly cooked - also depends on the dish you're using it in. Make sure you add salt (or MSG) and have something else to go with the bitter melon. In Chinese cuisine you'd typically stir fry it with egg into an omelette or with some juicy beef strips. Some Southeast Asian cultures might put in a stew. Ideally the bitter melon comes out only slightly bitter with a hint of sweetness, and it's got a really nice texture between being firm and mushy (again depending on how you cook it). If your bitter melon was super bitter, either it wasn't prepared right, or your tongue is especially sensitive to the bitter compounds in the melon. Which is fine. It's not for everyone. But there's a chance that you just didn't have it prepared properly!

@@ILP123able The trick is to sprinkle salt. Salt draws out the moisture and bitterness. cut into half moons and then sprinkle with salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes, wring them and wash them thoroughly. Saute with onions, garlic, bits of pork, add soy sauce and sesame oil and then when its almost done, add a beaten egg. Saute for a little bit until the egg is cooked. Its delicious, when prepared correctly.

All of this veggie and fruit are very common in Indonesia, most of them can be used as cooking ingredients and can be eat directly 1. Turmeric/Kunyit (Spices), we always used it for spices and food color 2. Rambutan (Fruit), a tasty fruit that shape like a lychee 3. Bitter Melon/Pare (Fruit/Veggie), we usually cook it along with some thick soup to add a little flavour 4. Horseradish/Lobak (Spices), we usually cook it into a soup or used it as a food seasoning 5. Durian (Fruit), a fruit that is sweet and a little sticky 6. Dragonfruit/Buah Naga (Fruit), a fruit that is sweet and so watery that makes you feel fresh after you ate it, also good if you juiced it
