@@Atom-kn3zf It was one of the two conflicting solutions to the problem of speed v's armour protection.The Montanas were the more heavily armoured counterpart to the lighter faster Iowas although whether either would have lasted long against the Kruppe 20" guns of a 144,000 tonne H-44 is an interesting point. The H-44 was also designed to be faster than a Montana....
