EPILEPSY WARNING -【MARETU ft. Hatsune Miku】Magical Doctor (マジカルドクター)【English subtitles】

WARNING: FLASHING LIGHTS AND SUDDEN AUDIO CHANGES; LONG DESCRIPTION
This is one of my favourite songs from the SIU album. Thank you so much for watching, and please read below for my interpretations/theories!
In terms of the line "わたしわしょおきにもどるんですか？", I interpreted "しょおき" as "正気" (shōki/sanity), but I found something interesting. Shōki (鍾馗) is a deity from China's Taoist pantheon who was often depicted in sculptures and paintings during the Edo-period of Japan. Shōki is the "protector against evil spirits and illness". This is just extra information, though, so take it as you wish!

Let's take a deeper dive into the song's meaning.
First of all, in the first 9 seconds of the video, we see a beautiful, light scene. The title reads "きのこをたべたおひめさま", which means "The Princess Who Ate a Mushroom", which begs the question; did she eat a magic mushroom? Given the song's title, Magical Doctor, and the video's psychedelic content, it's almost definite to say that she did. But wait! There's more! As one Japanese commenter (いい) pointed out, the time in this scene is 6:65, which... Obviously is not a real time. So what could this mean? A quick Google search of this number will bring you to this website (thesecretofthe.... Here is a quote from it.
"It’s an indicator that your life is about to be transformed. Are you ready for this? The angels want to you to get ready for our life to take a new, exciting turn. They want to send miraculous opportunities into your life. As such, you should ready yourself to take advantage of this. Angel number 665 is a sign of change. If this number keeps crossing your life, it means that you will experience some major changes in life. These changes will encompass your spiritual, personal, and professional life. These changes will enable you to grow as a person - regardless of whether the changes are positive or negative."
That's a lot of information to take in, so allow me to break it down a little. An indication that your life is "about to be transformed"? What could this transformation be? Well, in multiple studies and people's personal experiences with magic mushrooms, it has been found that magic mushrooms can have a positive, beautiful impact on people. For example, magic mushrooms can act as the treatment, or even the total cure, for depression, anxiety and other similar illnesses by resetting, or rebooting, the brain. Could this be the possible "disease" mentioned within the song? Or the "transformation" as signified in 665? Pay attention to this paragraph,
"These changes will encompass your spiritual, personal, and professional life. These changes will enable you to grow as a person - regardless of whether the changes are positive or negative."
When the clock changes, the time is of course 6:66. In Chapter 13 of The Book of Revelation, it reads, "Let the one with understanding reckon the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.". This is why "666" is dubbed the "Devil's number". As opposed to mushrooms, and since addiction to magic mushrooms is rare, perhaps the princess was addicted to Christianity instead, or maybe even the Devil themself?
Another explanation could be that the "disease" the "princess" has is Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), which is why she's titled as a "princess" even though she can't become one (or isn't one). There's more that I could add, but this description is long enough. Thank you for watching!

I think the song is talking about drugs because there's seizures and the lyrics: will my disease be cured,and the next line is can't be cure,it can means that the person regret using drugs and try to turn her/himself back to normal. what makes this sadder is the lack of kanji in the mv. for context, japanese has three "alphabets" - i'll show them below and use the word for world: hiragana: せかい (sekai) katakana: セカイ (sekai) kanji form: 世界 (sekai) hiragana and katakana are syllabaries, while kanji is.. i don't know how to explain it, but kanji characters are used to represent different concepts and such, and are mainly derived from the chinese language. ANYWAY, the usage of mainly kana is seen as elementary, like how big writing in english is seen as more childish. other than in the beginning and during the "the infirmary is not for sleeping" parts, there's mostly kana in the mv for this song, emphasizing just how young the girl (miku in this case) is. i'm sorry for rambling haha. please correct me if i'm wrong!! i'm studying japanese and i'm not too knowledgeable regarding the language/culture yet, so i could easily be completely wrong ^^

I know this is about drug addiction, but as someone who has a chronic illness/disability I also somehow relate to a lot of the lyrics. "Will my disease be cured?" "My disease can't be cured" Are pretty obvious, the feeling of repeatedly, desperately asking doctors if theres a cure, even just something to ease the pain, and always being told NO. "The infirmary isn't for skipping class" reminds me of my school time, being accused of faking illnesses to skip lessons because I took so much sick time off, even though it was for legitimate pain, but nobody believes that pain can be constant or get so bad so often. "Will I regain my sanity" is just...being in constant pain fucks with your mental health, and often causes irreparable trauma. Many people with chronic illnesses develop PTSD or symptoms similar to it. Its super sucky. "I can't become a princess" "I can't return to those times" is not being able to "become a princess" or achieve your dreams/ambitions because the pain won't allow you to, nor being able to "return to those times" before the illness was as bad, like early childhood. The intermittent TEARS bit is, well, you spend a lot of time crying. Pain does that to you. I know this isn't the actual meanings, but this is how I always end up interpreting it.

Oh man I had to scroll down and see if I was alone in relating to this so hard despite having 0 experience with drugs,,, I have fibromyalgia, migraines and overextending joints, and all of it is just a lot of chronic pain to deal with at once. If it's not one of them causing me problems, then it's the other two.. Some days it's all three and Boy does it Suck. What's worse is that while my migraines got diagnosed early, everything else was only discovered about a year ago. I'm 24. I'd go to doctors complaining about really bad pains, but I was always told to just exercise more. This was mostly because I was mildly overweight and inactive (bc, you know, chronic pain) and doctors never bothered to look deeper into things than just blame my weight - until eventually two years ago one doctor discovered BY ACCIDENT that I have a metabolism disorder; even dieting doesn't help my weight much since my body doesn't work like it should. Still, it took a whole year and an embarrassing, sobbing breakdown in front of a doctor to actually look into it and lo and behold; a lot of issues. For my whole life, I grew up thinking what I felt was normal. Everyone told me nobody liked whining so I never mentioned it, even when it was bad. For years, I was ridiculed and kept thinking something was wrong with me in a way that was my fault, that I was the problem and I was just lazy and uncaring. I couldn't even muster energy for things I wanted to do. I hated myself for being that way. And then, when it feels far too late, after suffering for years, it turns out I myself was never the issue. (I'm not bitter or anything where do you get that idea? Pssh) Needless to say, mental illness has been kicking my ass and the Current Times aren't making things much easier. Self-pity aside, living with chronic pain is utter hell. For me the worst part is that it's not externally visible, because nobody believes me without actual documents proving my diagnosis - if even then. I don't know what kind of chronic pain you have to deal with, but I hope that you're doing well and if not, I hope that things get better for you! Good luck!! I hope you have a good day!!

we know for sure this song is about someone abusing drugs, but here's some things: Namida means tears, maybe referring to bloodshot eyes. The "hunger" being repeated at the start could refer to them wanting more of it. "The nurse's office is no place for skipping" line morphing into nai nai nai could be the person reaching out to the school nurse for help, but after being accused of faking to bunk classes, decides to go back. Hardtek is a sort of music mostly played at parties and is characterised by a pounding repetitive kick drum, maybe referring that they purchased mushrooms(?)/drugs there and also the rush making their heart beat so fast they can feel it in their ears. "I can't become a princess " & "I can't go back to that time", maybe referring that they're too far gone. "I can't win against this pain" maybe that they can't fight off their urges. other people have said this, but the warning coming only at the end, maybe refers to the person realizing when its too late, and/or people only taking action after a casualty. Trivia: Shouki(the word used for sanity) can also refer to soberness. Itami(the word used for pain) also refers to ache.

Idk if anyone else has pointed out this connection, but psilocybin (the drug from the mushrooms) has recently been suggested to be a treatment for anxiety and depression, among other things. I think your analysis of it being a time of change in the desc is interesting as well. With that information, I think the song is about a person that is taking the first step into treatment for her mental illness, and she is terrified. She has no idea how this will affect her and is taking a huge leap of faith. The refrain of someone chastising her for using the infirmary to skip class sounds like she got shamed for reaching out for help in the past. It makes me think the person shaming her doesn't take her mental illness seriously, implying she is just looking for excuses to get out of class. The song is aggressive and abrasive, with screaming sounds and references to tears, which to me conveys a sense of self hatred. It is common to feel weak for seeking help, which is possibly why she feels that way. The song also has a heavy, hard-hitting, and fast beat, which reminds me of an elevated heart rate associated with a panic attack. The psychedelic effects seem like a reference to psilocybin and it's hallucinogenic properties. At the end she expresses regret for not being able to live out her childhood dream of being a princess. The intro ties it all together: the princess that ate a mushroom. The intro also implies she was a princess all along, even throughout her struggles with mental health, because she is eating the mushroom as the princess, not as someone who could have been a princess. Idk man I dumped all this here to procrastinate my schoolwork lmao Edit: her conversations with the doctor are also mentioned. In the first verse: will my illness be cured? She is putting her trust in the doctor. In the second verse: will I regain my sanity? I'm guessing she either had a mental breakdown or a bad experience with the medication and is having doubts. The cutscene where it says "can't be cured" also seems like a manifestation of her doubts.

Hey I have a theory on this song! (Sorry this is long and scattered. As I was typing this, more ideas came of the song came into my mind. Also sorry if some things don't make sense/spelt incorrectly.) So, my theory is that the song is about someone w ptsd dying of a drug overdose. The "magical mushrooms" are, quite obviously, the drugs. I also think that the flashing images is the person hallucinating. The chaotic music is the person dying, not that I've ever died before, but I do imagine that it would be extremely chaotic. Now, the ptsd part of my theory, comes from another translation of the same song. Instead of saying "I can't be a princess...I can't go back to the time again, I just cant", I found one that says "I don't want to be a princess...I don't want to go back to that time again, that time again", indicating trauma, probably from childhood. In the same translation, instead of saying "(you again?) the infirmary is no place for skipping class", it says "(you again?) The nurses office is no place for skipping". This leads me to belive that the person is in a mental hospital, further supporting the ptsd part, and indicates that the drug overdose was most likely once the person was set free or escaped, as it is possible to get out of a mental hospital by pretending that you have been "cured". These parts are also the person's life flashing before their eyes, those being some of the memories. I also once looked up what "namida" means, and, yes it does mean "tears", but I found that it also means "happy tears", meaning that the person having the overdose, was committing suicide. The warning at the ending shows that it was to late to save the person, as the flash warning was too late. There's a part that says "welcome to the hardtech", which is simply referencing how chaotic the song is. The screaming is, like the nurse's office/infirmary part, a part of their memories and is the person's breakdown that lead them to the hospital and/or memories of abuse. The "no cure" part is saying that for mental illnesses/disorders such as ptsd, there is no actual "cure". Okay imma go do some more maretu theories, bye.

(this is a little late, but i just thought of this so likE-) i think that when the nurse says that the infirmary isn't a place to skip class is when the girl who has the addiction sneaks into the infirmary during class to use the drugs in there and the nurse catches her, and maybe that's where she gets taken to a doctor to try and fix the addiction.
