I have seen in the comment section that many are saying that code of honour has costed us lots of wars yeah that is true but rajputs has done there duty quite successfully by stopping the invasions for some 500 years and even after that 700-800 years of struggles with invaders , but main thing is that that beacuse of that code of honour we are respected in Indian society. Many of the cultures from Arabia to Afghanistan and Sindh got extinct and we will never know about it due to Islamic invaders. I am Rajput Kshatriya based in the Bihar and I have been told about how thru the centuries my ancestors have fought against enemies of India. Initially , from Ujjain, my ancestors fought against Mughals and before that some Turkish general and most of the family were massacred , the few who were left settled in Aara , Bihar . We again fought for Raja Kunwar Singh in 1857 against British .After losing the battle the whole family was again massacred by the British. Many people don’t know this but British targeted even the wives and kids of those who participated in revolt of 1857. One of my great grandfather ran away to Nepal border with just one son to save his lineage . Our grandfathers again participated in independence movement and 2 of them lost lives against British in 1942 and now we are settled in Bihar Nepal border. We are poor but still live by Rajput code and are proud of sacrifices by our ancestors.

Mughal empire was built through alliance of pragmatic Akbar with the Rajputs with rajput generals defeating other muslim powers like adil shahis in deccans, muslim rajputs kings in Gujarat and Afghans in Benga and North west. After death of Aurangzeb Mughal king farrukhsiyar was blinded and killed by rajput king ajit singh in 1719 within mughal palace and puppet emperor placed after that. So mughal empire was actually destroyed by Rajputs who built it after revolting against radical Aurangzeb. Despite doing this much, many ungratefuls have issue that there was marriage alliance between Rajputs and Mughal kings, which was the norm between allied kings, with even mughal princesses like Akbar's niece marrying Man Singh. Their own foreathers were supplying mistresses for favours but now they will preach and point fingers at queens whose sons became kings.

Wow, great video. On rajputs, there is a great deal of divided opinion. One one side they're praised for their bravery and valour and on the other side they're criticised for not being able to protect the frontiers. Nevertheless, there were rajput kings who successfully defeated the foreign invaders & checked their advance for almost 400 years since the first invasion.

I'm just surprised as an Indian you didn't mention the greatest Rajput warrior of all time : Maharana Pratap . He was the only king , king of Mewar , who didn't accepted 3rd Mughal Emperor Akbar's imperial domination and fought till his last breath. Shree rama and krishna were also rajput. Gautam buddha was born in a kshatriya family Mahavir swami was born in kshatriya family. Bahmani kingdoms hasan gangu was a brahmin before that doesnt mean the whole clan of brahmins because of him. I belong to the clan of raja bhavani singh of fatehpur go read about his history.. Early days of Rajput warfare did not see the need for such acts. The Rajput confederacy was merely how we classify them today for academic convenience. The Japanese caste system mirrored the Indian one and the system was exported to other countries all the way to Phillipines. @Debo Datta I disagree. Sure, they made deals to survive in a tumultuous time. What were the Bengalis doing? Converting to Islam, licking British boots. Highest concentration of Anglo Indians in WB still to this day. Whose daughters were having foreigners in their wombs? The Rajputs held off the armies of the caliphate. Yes their was historical rivalry b/w Jats & Rajputs since Rajputs were revenue collectors while Jats were land owners. No, Tomar is Jat clan but some Tomar clan were integrated into Rajputs when they formed kingdoms. I am Tomar Jat from Zivana, Badaut (west UP).

Rajputs were divided in several clans, even the only one or two powerful clans like Sisodiya and Kachwaha were enough to defeat a large empire, now think what if all Rajput clans would have united, they had capability to conquer everything The British Historian Sir James tod compared Rajputs with Spartans for the same reason of division, still in India Rajput clans use to fight each other, however the peace is increasing..

Thank you very much sir. Very nice short,sharp and to the point video on rajputs. One correction. In the 7th cenutry chinese budhist scholar xuan zong visited india in king harshvardhan,s time. In his book xuan zong has mentioned hundreds of kshatriya kings ruling in the indian subcontinent from afghanistan in north to the south india and west in gujrat to bengal in the east. After 7th century it was these kshatriya royal families who came to be called rajputs as well as they were kshatriya already. As a proof, In rajasthan ,the states of bhati rajputs of jaisalmer and sisodia rajputs of chithhod already existed before the coming of the muslim invaders in 7th century. These states outlived all the muslim and british invasions.

@@debodatta7398 from mohd bin kasam in 7th century to aurangzeb in 17th century rajputs fought alone for a thousand years when no one else was around. Sikh,jat,maratha only came forward during aurangzeb time and they disappeared when british came. After 1857 there was no resistance from any sikh,jat,maratha,mughal ,pathan,baman,bhangi,dalit etc. Rajputs fought alone singlehandedly for a thousand years. After fighting alone for a thousand years some rajputs made peace with mughals for these conditions. 1. Jiziya tax will be abolished. 2. Yatra or pilgrimage tax will be abollished. 3. Hindus will not be forcibly converted. 4. Hindu temples will not be destroyed. 5. Broken hindu temples will be repaired. 6. Hindus will be treated as equal citizens. 7. Jodha bai will not convert. 8. Jodha bai,s son will become the next king of dehli. 9. Hindu temple will be built in muslim palace. 10. Akbar will give up islam. 11. Akbar left islam and created new religion called deen e ilahi. 12. Akbar was not a muslim after he married jodha bai.

Just a little correction, After Alauddin Khilji died the Delhi Sultanate was never near as powerful as it had been during his time After his death the Khiljis fought amongst themselves and within year the Rajputs reconquered all the lost areas beginning with Rana Hamir taking back Chittorgarh and even defeating the Mad King Muhammad Bin Tuglaq and then Rana Kumbha crushing the Sultans of Malwa and Gujrat followed by Rana Sanga defeating Lodhi Sultan at Dholpur and Khatoli thus freeing up all the present day Rajasthan Haryana and Madhya Pradesh from Muslim Rule

And my surname history says we were Archers untill wars were prominent... Then due to unemployment.. We started doing menial jobs.. And therefore became irrelevant..

I am also a Rajput, Chauhan to be precise. My elders have taught my brother and I to live by a certain code. Most important of them is that we must never ever in our lives do something that brings shame to the family name, that it is our duty to protect people around us be it our friends, classmates or our neighbours, we must never act as cowards and it is better to die then be disrespected, we must never betray anyone.

@@kaoskronostyche9939 this misunderstanding comes from the book of 'antiques and annals of Rajasthan by James todd' which he wrote in the 19th century. He made several mistakes in his book and wrote a girl named 'Jodha' married Akbar. But neither in Akbarnama ( Akbar self written book) and neither in Jahangirnama ( Akbar's son book). Is there anyone named 'Jodha'. This has already been rejected by modern historians. The name 'Harka bai' was mentioned in Jahangirnama. Kachwaha rajputs used to call this female servants as 'harku'(later named as harkabai as mentioned in Jahangirnama). She was a Persian servant who grew up in the Rajput States and knew all their traditions. She was married to Akbar. The Afghan sources and mughals sources also mentioned that they doubted it was the real daughter of the rajputs as no one was sad and cried of his departure ( a common thing in Hindus when their daughters get married). Also the hindu rituals were not followed by the rajputs in that wedding.

First of all my gratitude 🙏🏻, that you took time to research on my clan. I am a Parmara/Chauhan Rajput. People shouldn’t forget DNA from maternal lineage. Very soon, I will be going for 23/Me DNA ancestry test, this way my clan should know our origin. Fun fact: Rajputs make hardly 4% of Indian population, and they are highest gallantry award winners. Highest PVC(Param Veer Chakra)6, out of 23. And there gallantry award is higher in Pakistan too, those who converted to Islam. Just one war- Battle of Haifa,1st WW. 115 odd Rajputs under British, had the last cavalry charge of modern war fare, only armed with Lances- they captured Haifa. With the support of Mysore Lancers as well. Thanks once again 🙏🏻
