It’s an awesome guitar

Loved the vid but I'm no where closer to choosing one over the other. For me personally, I like the slightly darker tone of the LP but it's that heavy LP weight that pushes me towards the hollow body. Would love to hear a slow blues comparison

I bought my 339 a few years ago and last year I bought the LP Muse with the chambered body. The 2 sound great.

does the 339 cause feedback when you put max gain??? i was thinking to buy one
@pedalheadgeardemos3 жыл бұрын
Not really. I mean, if you turn an amp way up and stand close to it... probably. But that would be most guitars. This guitar doesn’t have the feedback issues that a 335 would have.

they say these guitars are versatile but I was hoping that included some clean hollow jazz sounds for a different mood

I have a full review of the 339 on my channel. Just go to videos and scroll around until you find it. It has plenty of clean tones.

I have an Epi ES-339 and I think it sounds better than even a Gibson Les Paul I owned. In this video, the neck pickup definitely sounds better on the 339. It sounds so much better clean too. In my opinion, the 339 is a Les Paul killer. It handles clean tones so much better and it has that sparkle and twang from a 335 that makes it ideal for playing country.

I agree. I just have a special place in my heart for my les paul. I've had it for over 20 years.

@@pedalheadgeardemos I wish I had that love and affection for a Les Paul. They were my dream guitar growing up, but have never found one that really suited me. Having back problems don't make it easier. It wasn't until I began playing an ES I realized they suited me better.

Is the Les Paul the 50s heritage cherry?
@pedalheadgeardemos3 жыл бұрын
No. I got this one back in 2000. This is the much sought after made in Korea epiphone les Paul. The 2020 standards, IMO, are a lot like these (besides the headstock design)

I'm not Bitchin that I have the 339 PRO with the original headstock. I also have the LP Muse with all the bells and whistles so I'm ALL SET.

Guess I'm going to have to go over to the shop and give these bad boys a go. I don't have the greatest speakers so I dont really hear too much of a difference but I definitely prefer the aesthetic of the 339.

I play modern metal on my epi es339.

Replace the ground wire that shunts the coil that gets shut off when you split the coils with a resistor, id start with a 1 or 1.5K. It'll make the coil splits into taps, and it won't be as thin as it is when you split them and they'll also retain a bit of hum cancellation. I do it with almost all my humbuckers. 95% of players use splits/taps to get a single coil tone, however i go the other way usually so when i use them it shuts off 25-40% of the coil. The way i do it makes it more of a "bright/full" type thing, but it works really well to get more of a single-coil tone. This is all PRS do for their coil taps.

sounds like an interesting mod. I've done all kinds of mods except that kind. we'll see.

@@pedalheadgeardemos It's a pretty simple one, just a coil split but using a resistor to ground it instead of a wire. You could use a pot/variable resistor to do a blend too. I have a PRS that i did both humbucker with 2 different taps like this: 1 that removed 75-80% to do the single coil thing, and the other 30% for the "bright/full." You have to do each on the other coil, so that first does the outside and the other does the inside coil.
