I like the way you approach this repair. The classical music as a backtrack for your time lapse was a nice touch. Enjoyed it all.

Try sealing with Shellac first to keep the edges from darkening and build up the color in layers. If you ever don't like the color, wipe it off with no harm and try again. After you get the color right, drop fill with 1/2 shellac and half lacquer. Do this in thin layers until you build up the thickness you need.

I agree

Yeah, the half shellac half lacquer combo is good. I didn’t think of that. There’s a few more areas I’m gonna do …thanks for the idea!

Would a flashcoat help the process?
@vindustrialguitars6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think the whole guitar could use a flash coat

it's fine, I would have refinished the entire sides of the body
@vindustrialguitars6 ай бұрын
I think that would look a little weird. The rest of the guitar is pretty checked and beat up. It would look refinished now it looks pretty natural.

@@vindustrialguitars ya, I've already done it to several: a Harmony Master, Guild M20 and a Kay. The idea is to not do a new factory finish. Takes a bit of practice, but basically you want to use the rest of the guitar as a guide to match --rock on !

I’d like to see that send me some photos

I would have stripped it and refinished the sides. Could antique it. Not that valuable of a guitar

Yeah, that was option two. Next vid in this series building a bridge i’ll try to get some good shots of the whole guitar when it’s done.

With all due respect. Looks like shit for a fix bro..

The option you never spoke of was to seal with clear... and the correct way.. to hold its patina.. and history....you ruined this guitar man

After the final color coat I think I put 3coats of clear. I kinda breezed over it in the vid
