I got one when they came out last year. This is a great guitar for any type of music. The p90s work really well also with fender tube amps. I don’t go for loud Marshall tone at all and it works perfectly with anything I play, mostly blues type stuff all the way to jazz chord heavy tunes. Well done Epiphone. Got me out of my Strat bag.

Great guitar; my favourite from Epiphone's "Inspired by Gibson" range. I've actually seen some reviewers who prefer the tones of these to the Gibson versions. Only downside is the finish being a solid colour rather than the translucent one of the originals.
@stuartmiller74192 жыл бұрын
For the relative price between the Gibbo and the Epi, I'd say that's not a downside. I know what you mean, though 🙂

As always, a splendid demo, Dagan! TV yellow is iconic then you add the P90s makes it legendary. Great tone! ('course, the Marshall helps)...
@Celestion3212 жыл бұрын
This is literally all I want from a Les Paul. I much prefer single coils, and P90s are tits. I don't need a fancy figured top, just a nice color, and good resonance. If Gibson stopped trying to make guitars for lawyers and made a version of this in America for about a grand, they would make money. This is the anti-Robot Guitar.

I love your reviews Dagan and here are the reasons: You can play, especially classic rock style so the playing sounds authentic. Lots of energy, it’s contageous Informative and good historic comments as well. And finally the BIG reason why? Your review clips reek of that true ROCK and ROLL spirit which you just can’t fake! Including the big hold your hand with your arm straight out and slide the guitar up to the sky homage to oh, the Gods of Rock! Seriously though, it’s part of the energy so we’ll done!

I’m looking for a pure P90 rock machine and there’s only one place to see if a guitar will do that - Dagan! Mission accomplished. The neck pickup in particular seems sweet. I can imagine it with a bit of fuzz and the tone rolled off a touch. Can’t wait to get one.

This video makes me *very* happy. I've pre-ordered a Marshall DSL20CR amp (they're currently out of stock everywhere, apparently), and when it arrives at the store I will be purchasing it and a TV yellow Epiphone Les Paul Special. I had hoped this guitar would sound good with a Marshall amp -- now I *know* it will. 🙂 Thanks!

Totally agree. I'd love to see this in about a million more colors, especially a Metallic or TV Silver though. I want one with an EMG P-Set in it for playing modern metal with vintage looks and a big fat 50s neck. 🤘
@duffman183 жыл бұрын
@@damonwolf7222 you can play modern metal with regular p90s. Hell you can even play modern metal with regular single coils. In recent years metal guitarists have been using teles and strats with single coils. Especially for recording. Because single coils are so much more aggressive sounding. The best thing to do it record every guitar part twice, once with a humbucker guitar, once with single coils or p90s, and combine them together. Then you get the high output warm bassy tone of the humbuckers mixed together with the raw aggressive power of the single coils

Dagan, I have both the Gibby version & now the Epi. The only change I made was putting Seymour Duncan P-90's in it. IT FLAT OUT KILLS YHE GIBSON both feel and tone wise. I run iy straight into a 50w Plexi with the silver J. Rocket Archer OD pedal, and it just DON'T get any better!

mine was NOT YELLOW D: all these reviews show yellow, i get a used on in the mail and it's dull dull dijon mustard color. not bright at all. butterscotch would be a kind way to describe it (and too colorful). i was gutted. *is THIS epiphone's idea of TV yellow?* or did it change over the years? Idk what it is. Epiphones just has this... Razor thin base to their sound. Any pickup setup. It's like you want to hit a certain point in an Epiphone's sound, but just falls short. It's like working out and you hit that wobble and can't finish the rep. That's how Epiphone's feel.
@alsesalses3 жыл бұрын
Well, not this.

@@alsesalses I can intonnate by ear. Give me a break, you just can't hear it. Lack of seasoning, idk. Take your pick. It might be the cheaper electronics. Could be how they're built. It's negligible, but it's there. I don't need your validation. Listen to the sustain and the lows. It's super non characteristic of an actual Gibson.
@alsesalses3 жыл бұрын
I can intonate by ear, I also play multiple intruments, own several Gibsons and also this Epiphone model, so if you haven't tried this guitar, I also might not care about YOUR input.
@troyl2003 жыл бұрын
@@alsesalses Alright, I thought so. You own an Epiphone. No need to defend them, they're making plenty. You play multiple instruments. So do I, but if you're pointing it out; it shows a lack of commitment. Usually, multi instrumentalist are never particularly good with one instrument. Im a guitar Master with a large student base. I live in the mountains, icing my hands over in weighty finger tips that promise speed beyond the crossroads. I own 4 guitars... Not sure why you would need an Epiphone AND a gibson. I have a Gibson too btw. Also, typically the more guitars owned, the cruddier the player. I can talk shit all day, won't hurt my playing ;
