Lower priced Epiphones seem to need 1-2 hours of setup time and possibly replacement knobs and switches which if you're not capable add additional cost to the low price. (imo) Great video.

I had 3 Epiphone Les Paul TV yellow specials and the fretwork on all of them was an absolute disgrace. I eventually gave up and just kept the 3rd one and ended up paying over 120 quid to get the frets sorted out. I always wanted a yellow TV special but just couldn't afford the Gibson, so I just spent the extra money and it's doing what it should now. Lovely jubbly.......

Good afternoon, Colin. I'm really not liking the guitar. I do like the copper color and the body color is really nice. The quality of the pick guard and the knobs really turned me off. Once you played your first set, I thought it sounded dull and lifeless. You are right, it is not singing. Pickup height adjustment may be critical with this guitar. Overall, I really don't like it. Your playing was as always and that is great. If the guitar doesn't meld with you, you won't FEEL the guitar. I would have expected better for the price, but maybe you paid for the JOE name and not the Epiphone. I've had some superb Epiphones and none ever sounded like this one. I have an SG with P90s and it sounds better than this one and it was 400 Euros. I say sell it and find something that goes with your heart and soul. Win some, lose some. Have a great weekend.

I currently own 2 Epi’s one has the club neck the other a modern sculpted neck. I love the club neck and really dislike the modern neck. If a guitar doesn’t feel right to you it will never feel at home in your hands.
@kevinwlyons_music_production
@kevinwlyons_music_production 6 сағат бұрын
@@richardsveum8452 this is fact, Richard. I believe a player can pick up ANY guitar and play it to some degree, but the real heart of the playing is in the connection one has with an instrument. For nearly every man is a woman, but one will never get the mate that fits and works completely. Guitars and people have to have a continuity to make the best sound and feeling come to life. Reviews and ratings are subjective for sure. You may love the club neck, others may go...bleh, that's shit, but what is right for one is not for the other. I make the most of my budget guitars and yes, some are like step-children, but still need the love and best I can give them. Your comment is perfect. It's about feel and connectivity. Rock on my friend, rock on.

Here in the US, Guitar Center is carrying a Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul Custom P90 for $799, on sale for $599. It came in a fancy gig bag from the factory. I had been considering the Special P90 but hesitated on the color somewhat. I decided to trade two guitars and an amp for the Custom. Black with gold hardware, P90 Pros, ebony fretboard, and a comfortable weight. I wish I had more details than what GC provides. So, $100 more than the Special for a Custom. I didn't tear it down when I got home, just a setup with the existing strings. I did swap out the black knobs for the ones from my Standard 60s. I like the looks better, and one of the stock knobs was wonky, btw. I'm definitely keeping this one! I read about the Joe B 55. I think what I have is good enough for me.

Hi Collin Thanks for another great review. I'm no longer an Epiphone fan even though I still own a few. To me the guitar sounds just ok and frankly with those imperfections I'd return for credit. Price is not too bad, but I think there are much better options available unless you are a JB signature collector. The first batch of 59LPs IBGCS are available at great prices on the S/H market and certainly mine plays & sounds similar to my Gibson actually it has better sustain 😮 Having a lazy day today so able to watch your review from start to finish a real pleasure.

Beautiful color, reminds me of Beck’s Oxblood LP. Tightening down the tuning machines ensuring snug at each string may improve high sustained frequencies. I got my a week ago and I can’t put it down, I alway have issue with Les Pauls and neck position pickups sounding muddy, this Les Paul s very versatile , I like keeping it in the middle and control volume and tone from there. You will get many great tones. I am playing through a Boss Kantana mark 2 and using a Joyo Baatsin pedal on the sweetly position and it sounds great. Like Colin said it’s even better with no pedals and clean. This guitar will be in my collection for a long time. I don’t agree with Colin on some opinions but I respect him on his review, just play one yourself and cast your opinion on the guitar. Myself I’m enjoying this guitar and the case looks wonderful to me, I had the 59 Les Paul and the inner case was pink this one is darker leaning more to a darker pink with a purple mix. For the money I think it’s a great addition to my collection.

@@theguitaristas Sir you are a gentlemen! Thank you for your response, I am 62 years old and have been buying and selling for a long time, I had the Epiphone 59 when they first came out and even tho it was a nice guitar I couldn’t bond with it. I am a Strat player and the P90s in a Les Paul is more my flavor. I have a love for many guitars as I see that you do too. I always enjoy your reviews and playing and your honest opinion on the guitars you feature. I wish you good health and a happy life and I look forward to your next review.

Please review ESP-LTD and Chapman Guitars, they have plenty of guitars under 700 and I'd love to see how they compare to Epiphone.

I read an article about this guitar online, apparently Epiphone had to go back into their records to research that particular colour, I have to say I love the colour, it is reminiscent of the ford granadas as used by the Sweeney as mentioned in another review. I think you were probably spoilt by playing the expensive Les Pauls the other week.

Saw one in the shop the other day. Was surprised to see it was $899.

There are reviewers on KZbin who would return that and issue a lawsuit for those knobs.

Great video Colin😎👍👍 A broken volume knob should help get a decent discount I would think...?😉👍 The pickguard looks different to my eye...? Certainly they should have sanded the edges 🤔 This piece has a sweet sound. Perhaps not for lead duties, but for rhythm...?😎 OXBLOOD...Now THAT would be a win 😁👍👍 😎✌👍❤🖖 Love Brother

I love the colour. When, or are you going to do a review of the new Gibson Les Paul studio? I'd really love a 54/55 custom, with the staple neck pickup.

I bought a new Apple phone Gibson inspired Les Paul, classic and Ebony. It’s got the Nico pro bucker pick ups but I absolutely love it it feels and sounds plays great absolutely love it and I like that one there with the P 90s.

I have always loved the look of a Les Paul and P-90’s but for the reasons you have shown this Epi and in that color have left me with “blah.” I have a Yamaha RS02T which I have referred to as my’56 LP! The quality, fit, finish, playability and sound are superb. The prices are almost identical and both are produced in S.E. Asia. While I love my Yamaha, it would be nice to have an LP in this price point that was of the same quality and playability.

as we all know some guitars just dont "do it" for some....but "do it" for others lol! at least you documented one of this model anyway! possibly grab a "flat top" epiphone p90 LP special and do a comparison to this one(using sounders from this one)... i have the "budget" LP special(1v 1t p90)model and love it! mine is TV yellow...i named it "grey poupon".....

Glad its an option now from Epiphone because there wasn't any before, but was hoping Epiphone was going to do a '55 Goldtop (aged) with Gibson P90s and sell as part of their Inspired by Gibson Custom, I know it will cost more (but never as much as a Gibson).

It is a Standard With P-90's, custom knobs, a custom color, and a case. At $850 USD it is a good deal.

Solid demo! Thanks! I still prefer to try before I buy and still notice I can pick identical guitars off the wall, maybe just diff colours, and one will just click with me and another won’t. It’s bizarre.
