@@moneortiz1614 it’s pretty heavy. I just picked up this exact guitar today, went from playing an ltd 256 and man this epiphone is way heavier. But not in a bad way, feels very solid and well built, better sustain, overall my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned

When I started playing guitar 25 years ago I would have been so happy to have those awesome guitars we can buy today for 600 bucks!!! That's amazing how quality reached such a high level today, definitely thanks to CNC machines, but brands have made huge efforts to increase their overall quality too, by correctly seasoning the wood for example...

I bought the les Paul studio about a month ago and absolutely love it. It has great tones from metal to blues , it's a no-brainer for under $500 and feels like it should cost 3x as much.

@@mikeg.9238 I'm thinking of the Alpine white epi Les Paul Custom 729 plus tax maybe pull the pickups I don't know yet Hard to tell in Guitar Center I was just checking out the workmanship detail checking for bleeding or separation binding the ebony neck My last Paul customs have a better board but hey for 700 bucks that's a way decent ebony board GC is like a boneyard pretty sad No inventory no people eventually they're probably going to go away all together ....

@@lfader Yeah i hear ya on that , the closest one to me is about a 30 min ride , but they actually have a pretty good stock. I think they're planning on closing a bunch depending on region. Also mine is the smokehouse burst , nice looking , i changed the knobs to a silver color to match the hardware. But the pickups are actually pretty decent , the white is sharp also especially with the gold hardware...

Keep in mind, Epiphone is putting out amazing guitars. I now own Gibson custom guitars but I started out in 2018 with an epiphone es-335. It was amazing and I can only imagine how much better they are now since the rework. You really aren’t missing out with the Gibson besides the head stock, nitro feel and slight quality bump.

Thank you for your honest opinion. It’s April 2024 as I write this comment and the internet is buzzing as Epiphone releases a new batch of Inspired by Gibson premium guitars in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop. For $500 more you get the proper Gibson open book headstock along with proper and period correct Gibson specs like pickups, electronics, wiring etc etc. Plus a premium hard shell case with an Epiphone-Gibson Custom commemorative logo, that is also on the guitar. I’m waiting for my Custom in Alpine White to arrive tomorrow. And, I am pre-ordering from Sweetwater the Ebony version in time for Father’s Day. It’s an interesting time but Life is good. Cheers.

I just bought a new 2023 white Epie custom and i was blown away. I hadnt played an epiphone in 25 years and I was shocked at the quality level. Epiphone has really knocked it out of the park with this guitar, and at only 799!! I did have the neck pleked and locking tuners installed. I will buy a black one to go with it.

Dylan I have the smoke burst and also have an SG and agree , for the price and quality you cannot beat them. Iv'e got more expensive one's , but honestly there's not much of a difference. These newer epi's are solid guitars and feel like they should cost 3x as much.

I have a 2021 Epi Les Paul Custom just like this one, except the newer models have proper larger diamond inlays on the headstock. It’s an absolutely awesome guitar. I’ve owned quite a few genuine Gibson Customs ranging from late ‘70s 11 pounders, to a 2007 Historic Custom Shop ‘57 Reissue Black Beauty (also with a solid mahogany body), and this Epi hangs with the best of them. Seriously. I did install a bone nut on mine, and I intend to install genuine Mother-of-Pearl inlays (I’m a luthier by trade) at some point…..the Epiphone comes with plastic ‘pearloid’ inlays, not like the genuine Gibson MoP inlays. Larry misspoke when he said the Gibson Custom came with ‘pearloid’. The only Les Paul that has pearloid (plastic/acrylic) is the normal Standard, and it’s variants.

I have the silverburst coming tomorrow and its getting Gotoh keystone locking tuners and EMG 81/85s! With hardcase and straplocks I'll have $1035 into it and might even sell my ADCB '59 once it's all set up? Gotta ASFB '59 that's unbelievable for the $799 list price I actually paid! It's worth every penny! Epiphone has me grabbing these inspired by Gibson models at an alarming rate!

I bought one of these about a month ago off of American Musical Supply. I was so excited, I wanted a Black Beauty so badly, what a beautiful instrument! But when I got it it just didn't play that well, it played like a really cheap guitar, a bit hard to play. I was so disappointed, and I returned it. I had recently bought an Epi 59 LP and an Epi LP Special TV Yellow, and they both play like butter, practically playing themselves! But I had to fight the Custom. I have a Harley Benton that looks just like it and plays and feels way better. Maybe it was just that particular Epi, I don't know.

My bet is that it was that particular guitar. With the inspections we do here at Moore Guitars, any guitar with issues that can't be addressed with a good setup goes back to the manufacturer.

I have other Epis as well and none of them play like that. I have a couple of very high end Gibson LPs and they don't play any better than my Inspired by Gibson Epis!

I have a 2002 model and have been playing it religiously, even after 20years of play, the quality all around remains unchanged and reliable. All electronics preform like new. No repairs or upgrades ever made.

Some use Les Pauls down-tuned moderately, but personally, I'm not a fan of 24-3/4" scale as a platform for low tunings. With the right string gauges, though, you can make it work.

These would look so much better with a white pick guard like the Epiphone Les Paul Standard in my opinion. The white just rounds out the tuxedo-like look and in my mind it's what Les was going for. I was looking at this one earlier in the year when it was hanging in the shop, but it got away. Sounds like this was recorded before Black Friday, so I'm guessing Larry ended up with a Les Paul Custom after all! 😎

Strangemagic Your'e correct , but i'll take this all day compared to a $5-10 thousand Gibson Murphy Lab that's having big-time problems right now. Apparently the aging chemicals they're using is causing the guitars paint to flake off , i would be pissed as hell spending that kind of $$ and having to return them within weeks of buying them!
