If you haven't bought yet, definitely get one. I got mine in(Les Paul model) and it's a very nice guitar. My only real complaint is that they could have made a better gig bag to include. People have complained about thr price, but the LP Special II is $200-ish and this is really built to the specs of a full featured Les Paul, save coil tapping and a couple minor features. I would imagine the SG is similar. It would be fairly easy to modify it, in my opinion, if you wanted to.

my little brother has a 3/4 scale guitar that i borrow quite often. there’s something about the smaller size that makes it really comfortable and easy to play. and as a les paul girl, i may just have to pick one of these up. plus the binding looks fantastic

@Jasper Victoria, I have the blue and these are very nice. I also have a Epiphone LP Classic Worn in the Violet Purpleburst. I find the Power Player model compares favorably to a stock Epi LP Classic(mine is now heavily modified). I think they wouldn't have been unreasonable to price at $350. It's a nice light guitar. I do suggest an upgrade to the tuning machines at minimum. Short scales always need locking tuners. There is no coil tapping on the stock pickups. For a small guitar, sustain in insane on it. I have a Squier Mini Strat that just never sounded good to me. Getting ready to sell it, but am putting Grover locking tuners on that one before I do so the new owner doesn't have to deal with the issue. In less than a day of owning the LP, I am already happier.

These and others like them would be great for me, i dont need something to play on stage with the foo fighters cos never gonna happen, just something to sit around at home and play at my leisure. I think i will be spending some money....

Great job. it does get confusing when they call various sizes of short scale guitars 3/4 sized, e.g a typical kids 3/4 guitar is 24" scale which is only a tiny bit smaller than an adult sized guitar (and the same as Brian May's Red Special!) So when buying, 3/4 doesn't tell you anything, need to know the scale length
@jarrettfinney48822 жыл бұрын
I guess whenever people think about the 20s, they're gonna think about all these little guitars. Between these and the Ibanez mikros, little guitars might be the new big deal. I think they're so popular because you're getting a full on awesome guitar to have fun with, but not spending a lot of money

My son had a Squier mini Strat (currently £129 new), and that was a perfectly good guitar. I expect the Epis will be just as good (or better, since they cost more). I put heavy strings on the Strat to compensate for the short scale length.

Actually replacing my Mini Strat with one of the Les Paul Power Players. Certainly nothing wrong with the Mini Strat, but I just like the sound of a Les Paul better. My main guitar is an Epi Les Paul Classic Worn, modded with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and Super 2 in the neck. Plan to set up the Power Player Les Paul the same way to use for an everyday carry songwriting electric guitar.

For playing at your computer, may I recommend the Jamstik Studio? It’s a 3/4 as well, stays in tune like a dream. It’s an analog + polyphonic midi guitar (that works with mobile as well), so you can play it like a traditional guitar or use any midi controller (it comes with amazing free software). It registers bends, trills, hammer ons and whatever you throw at it, unlike every other midi guitar out there. Amazing pickups and bridge. You can get them on sale on the company’s site or other retailers as well as bstock on the company’s official reverb. Hope this suggestion helps! They are extremely well reviewed, but I speak from personal experience too.

Doe they need to be strung with 11s or 12s to get stable tension in standard tuning? Or can you use 9s or 10s without knocking them out of tune?
@bradleyolinger16912 жыл бұрын
Do you think these would be a good project platform for modifications? I am thinking about the Les Paul for a everyday carry and travel guitar for on the go songwriting, but would want to set it up with the same Dimarzio Super Distortion/Super 2 combo my Epi Les Paul Classic Worn has, for a one to one experience. Update: Got a Power Player LP and definitely could modify if you wanted. Only thing you can't do is add a pickguard(way too small), unless someone makes a custom that fits, but unlikely to happen.

It has a 22.73” scale length , how this is affecting choice of strings compared to regular Les Paul size. I believe it comes with standard 10-46 but wouldn't 09-42 be better choice ?
@coeycruz2 жыл бұрын
The shorter the scale is the thicker strings you need
@bradleyolinger16912 жыл бұрын
It's personal choice what strings you prefer, but the rule of thumb with 3/4 size guitars is to go up one size in thickness from your usual preference to get the same intonation. I prefer 10s on my standard sized, so would do 11 to compensate for a short scale. That said, you can't go extremely thick or you'd run the risk of damaging the neck on a smaller guitar.

I doubt they will do a LP Special in the power players since that is what the Express was, and the LP Power Players is a step up from the Express, being setup closer to a full fledged LP minus the coil tap and a couple small features.

Avoid like the plague unless you are under 6 yrs old. You will develop bad habits. Even advanced players should avoid use for extended times. I have a few of these 3/4. 24" is even too small, although acceptable. It's tempting maybe for travel, but there are other good options. Having said that, I want one (or two) LOL . Blackstar has a 20", that's extreme perhaps, but very well made. These may be also. Curious.
