Epiphone Texan Masterbilt Serial Numbers Important

I have raved about Epiphone's "Inspired by Gibson" line as well as their Masterbilt line and this guitar meets my expectations. But beware, Epiphone is playing some dirty pool and you need to know this.

Randy, of KZbin's Randy's Rhythm, has a video out that explains what Epiphone is doing with their "Inspired by Gibson" and Masterbilt line of guitars. They are moving some of them to the China plant and not telling us. You may want to watch his video explaining this and how to tell where your Epiphone guitar was built. My Texan clearly didn’t have Masterbilt on the sticker and that explains why mine was not all it could be. I do believe your guitar skills are on their way back! Thank you Randy, for everything. I'm not as sure about my skills level though. I couldn't hold a candle to you, and others here on KZbin. Oh, Noah has started picking up his guitars again and I'm happy to see him finding the time to get back into it. What's crazy is he just got another strain of one of them COVID variants. They informed my wife yesterday about that This one's no where near the last time though, and yes, we all have it...

I dearly love my Indonesian Epiphone Masterbilt Texan - just a really great sounding, playing and feeling instrument. I completely agree with your very good and thorough review.: Lots of craftsmanship, good materials and, yes indeed, potential. And first and foremost, a LOT of guitar for the money.

Recording King, Alvarez and Epiphone are just a few of them. Lol... If I had the funds I would purchase them all, if for nothing else than to review them.

I’m looking at a MB Texan now. I have an Indonesian Dove that is nice but very bright and it’s laminated. The MB Texan sounds very good

Hopefully it's all nice as the one I got. From everything that I've been told, as long as it's from the Indonesian plant, it should be a good, all solid wood, guitar.

Thank you. And by the way, I've decided I'm going to sell it. I want a Martin HD 28 but just have too many guitars now. Plus, the Martin will set me back a ton of money I don't have...lol... So I decided to sell this guitar to help offset the cost of the Martin, my dream guitar, and free up some much needed room.

David , that Texan does sound good , in 60 yrs it will sound a whole lot better , as good as your vintage , probably not as the wood has grew differently. But these Masterbilt`s one day will be hunted for as I think the collectors already have their eye on them. My AJ was made in China in 04 and I think the second round of the Masterbilt line (GR factory code) but she has age better than I hoped for and she looks pretty much like an old Gibson from the 30`s ( I hated the finish , when I got it I said great "sanding sealer" for a finish how cheap , but not now) with the dark faded look. As your`s it did came with the Fishman pickup and plastic bridge pins , the pickup does not bother me but I do want to upgrade the bridge pins. Great review and I hope Gibson/Epiphone get back on track with these as they had something special going !

Oh, and I advertised mine on Reverb, for local sales only, and ended up giving it to my son instead. I should have offered it to him to begin with, but wasn't thinking right..lol.. I got my Alvarez MD60 back from him and gave him this one. And he loves it.

Does anybody know how to remove this silver epiphone € on the pickguard? This is really the only thing on my masterbilt Texan I don't like.

You could try a razor blade and lighter fluid. Soak the "E" with lighter fluid and then use the razor. Maybe that's will work. I like Ronsonal brand lighter fluid for guitar work. You can also purchase new picguards that are made, and shaped, for Epiphone guitars. I wish my "E" was still on my "65" Texan. That's the only thing it's missing from being %100 stock ( or at least able to go back to stock). I saved the original tuners and the adjustable saddle in case I ever want to sell it...lol... That will never happen though...

@@HayesTech that is a good idea, I have Zippo lighter fluid here...but you are right...maybe it will be better to leave it at the guitar...once it's gone...I could never put it back on this beautiful guitar. I think I don't like it because here in Germany it reminds everyone at the € (Euro) Symbol. But hey...it belongs to this guitar and it isn't the Euro Symbol ..so I will give this silver piece a chance ✌️

@@HayesTech the rest of the guitar is a masterpiece...next to my masterbilt Excellente, which hadn't the silver logo because of the unique eagle pickguard, another beautiful piece from the great €😋piphone/Gibson company. Both guitars are absolute incredible.
